As far as I know you can get a pre-paid prescription certificate and get as many prescriptions as you like over 3 or 6 months and it costs a lot less than what you are paying monthly.
(Apologies if this is not available in England, but you should enquire at your chemist's anyway).0 -
The article says
I can't see how he'd only get that:
IS/JSA for a couple: 5500
DLA 1000 (at least - probably more)
Child ben: 1752
CTC: 5655
Council tax benefit: 1000 (at least)
That's nearly £15,000, and that doesn't include housing benefit/SMI.
Housing benefit is at least £360 a month for a family house.Thats over 4K a year. i am disabled but I still work. Ok this chap has pain in one hand but does it stop him doing over jobs such as a desk job. He admits he does voluntary work so why can he not do part time work I get very tired from my muscle wastage, I get pain in my back from my kidney disease, pain from my keinboks syndrome in my left wrist but hey ho0 -
I earn well over twice what you earn. If you've got that kind of attitude then I am glad you earn so little. I guess you should have studied harder at school. Perhaps the education would have done you good in more than one way.
At least the guy whom works for £15k a year gets off his bum and works. It doesnt matter about what type of job or education. This is the attitude of many a youngster whom cannot be bothered to work for £6 odd an hour doing loos, cleaning or in cafes etc. Then all we hear is cries that the eastern europeans pinch all our jobs0 -
Are you sure about this?
Yes sure as I work in Council dept and we looked it up it`s offensive that with all governments they treat prioners better than pensioners. They chose to break the law so why should they be not made to have to gain shared accomodation, yet my daughter who cannot help suffering with mental health she is being pressured to move out of her 2 bedroomed home to shared accomodation or a bed sit, nothing ever seems fair because it isn`t.
Another thing that frustrates me they told my daughter at the council "If you had a baby you could then get full housing benefit" this is being exploited enough already young girls choosing to get pregnant to get a house and to not have to sign for work till they are 5 and then when they are 5 they have another baby. When these young girls leave school they don`t want to go to college they don`t want to stay on at school and this is the only way they are entitled to income so they opt to get pregnant, so surprised this as not been seriously looked into we have lots of single girls with babies in my area yet to be fair they are not really single this is where I assume lots of benefit fraud is taking place in this area. My daughter does not want this option she as all on looking after herself let alone a baby.0 -
I have read through a lot of comments on here and what it does show is government ball about how good it is for the lazy unemployed who don't want a job etc etc has brainwashed the public thinking. Why not try attacking the filthy rich who avoid paying their taxes in this country and accept there isn't the jobs out there for many people who are simply existing.
OP... sadly I guess many comments on here prove your point about peoples attitude, good luck for the future.0 -
I have found this thread extremely depressing. I don't want anyone to be living in poverty, especially children. Whether you are in a poorly paid job and not earning enough to live on, disabled or unable to find work, I would like to think I live in a society where people care enough about each other to want everyone to be able to feed and clothe themselves properly. Even now we live in one of the richest countries in the world and we should be able to look after each other better. I agree with diggingahole: it suits the government very well to attack people on benefits as it gives a good excuse to cut payments and make life even tougher. Those of you on very low incomes, you should be fighting for a living wage, not attacking the people one rung below you on the ladder. Shame on you.0

Why doesn't his partner work? Her condition is treatable and most people with it are capable of working?0

the thing is if you mention people coming into this country for whatever reason you are classed as racist and the government refuse to be seen as racist. If you mention the MP's claiming expenses then you are accused of saying the mp's don't do an important job. you mention the growing number of pensioners and your ageist so to in order to make the cuts they have to they jump on the only people they are still allowed to discriminate against and get away with it.0
