Generally no, most cards specifically forbid it, check your card t&c's.0

Why would you want to do this?0

because the card i want to transfer from has 0% balance transfer offer, so thought i could transfer it to another card and use it from there! hope that makes sense0

A £2,000 overpayment to a credit card is extremely unlikely to be accepted (money laundering - £2,000 dodgy cash could easily be converted into £2,000 clean credit in this way).
Most CCs will accept overpayments of literally a few pounds, if anything.======================================

This week I made an overpayment of £300 by mistake (I paid twice) and they accepted it.
I've also got another card running a few hundred in credit because my Olympic tickets refund came through to it. So it can happen. You could try and if they question it say you made a mistake and tried to transfer the balance from the wrong card.0 -
I have done it on at least 4 cards this year. 1 I paid twice by accident.1 I overpaid just by £100. 2 I balance transferred- 1 I transferred twice and it was £6k in credit. Called them- most put cash back into my bank next day but one sent a cheque.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
When Halifax credit card upped my rate dramatically to 29.9%, I paid off the full amount as a round figure and closed it.
But I overpaid by 4p
and they continued to send my statements for 2 years because I had credit, even though the account was closed the cards torn up.
They couldn't write a cheque for 4p, I wasn't going to use it again (couldn't) so the fools wasted money on paper statements and postage for 2 years.
That's the way to annoy the greedy idiots.
Made no difference to my rating or the Co-op card I got for 10.9% instead.0 -
Technically the answer is no.
Large amounts may fall foul of money laundering checks.
Small amounts might get through unnoticed.
So you might get away with it.
Frequently people seem to get away with small amounts, which suggest that money laundering checks get triggered at larger amounts.0 -
I can confirm Barclaycard will not allow an overpayment.0
