But people differ as how they cope with pain; some have a very low tolerance, and it is not really fait to draw conclusions from one person's undoubted courage and perserverance and apply it to everyone.
Accepted. However, in that situation I would argue the person isn't on the right level of meds and should speak to their GP or specialist to see what can be done.
Not wanting this to turn into a thread hijack it's just that the OP seems to have decided they can't work when I would argue they should be looking at what they can do not decuiding what they can't do. Perhaps they could simply agree a five min break every half hour for example?
I'm just trying to be helpful. If the car will be lost (which it might) then the OP needs to find a source of income which is what the original suggestion is all about.
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

I do wish people would answer the question, rather than interrogate the OP about their personal circumstances and why they're not working. Except for Mikey72, who has asked for information to help give a more accurate answer.
Although I do have (relevant) question, why has your ex threatened to stop paying? Have you made it difficult for him to see the child? I don't really want to know the reason, but normally people do something for a reason. Normally you have done something to anger the other person or their circumstances have changed (struggling with money). I would look down this route to see if this can be rectified.
Failing that, then yes the car can (notice the use of can not will) repossessed. Although your name is on the V5 there is still outstanding HP (it is HP and not a bank loan?).
You really need to answer Mikey72's question to get a more definitive answer.

It's complicated, as it's usual to have finance on a car you don't have in your name, for this reason.
At the end of the day, the finance company is the owner, and it wasn't your ex's to give away. But there's also nothing to stop you selling it, so long as the finance is paid off. Ok if you owe less than the car is worth. The only good thing is any debt will be in his name not yours if it isn't, or if they take it back.
You can't force him to pay, and the finance company won't just write it off. Really you need to find out how much is left to pay.
Do you qualify for motability?
edit - good point from Road Hog it is definitelyt hp, and not an unsecured bank loan?0 -
it is definatley hp and they were happy at the time for the car to be put in my name and the debt in his,
I would go out to work if i could walk 100 meteres without being in agony i can not take my meds as they will make me incompetant to look after my son ( i am sole carer) I have seen dr after dr for different methods of pain relief and nothing works except the ones that send me loopy and incabable of looking after myself and my son. I choose to be in agony evry day so i can care for my son until i have the next 2 operations that are needed!! I set my alarm 3 hours earlier than i need to to be able to get mobile in the morning and look after my son!
I have not done anything to upset him etc as possibly suggested and he has full access anytime he chooses to see his son (when he's not away at sea 3 months at a time)0 -
I know how you feel, if I take any stronger meds than I'm already on all I want to do is sleep all day. Still trying to get the balance right between tolerable pain and staying awake.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
