well i can kind of agree that for me, £35 would be better spent in savings than on flowers...... valentine's day doesn't need money being spent. you don't need to spend money to show that you care about someone.
i don't know if you should be 'pleased', but i don't think you should be upset.:happyhear0 -
I think you're right to be miffed OP. I don't think you have to spend a lot on valentines day, just make an effort. I'd be happy with a 99p card, a £3 teddy bear and a nice dinner in the house.0

Tight git. But did you buy him anything, if so wrap it round his neck lol
He might come in later and cook you a lovely meal with a massage afterwards.............
And he might not lol
My OH and I discussed it at the weekend and decided to do absolutely nothing, just a nice meal.
Lamb shanks in the slow cooker and they smell lovelymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Valentines day is just a money making scheme.
If he shows his love to you all year round, does it matter that he didn't buy you any flowers?0 -
We were all discussing this at the weekend (DH & I, BiL & SiL) SiL and I had both said to our DH's that we were quite happy with just food!
DH buys me flowers whenever he sees them reduced and I think that's much nicer because he knows I love flowers and hate spending money!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
If we celebrated valentines I would have been well miffed at him spending £35 on flowers. I would prefer a handmade card and a big kiss

22 years on and still no Valentines. Still happy, still married & still broke :rotfl:Truth always poses doubts & questions. Only lies are 100% believable, because they don't need to justify reality. - Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Labyrinth of the Spirits0

If he had done somethng else that meant a lot of thought and effort went in to it, rather than cash then i would not mind at all.
If he had done nothing I would be upset( I had a love letter in my bag lol).

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!0 -
P.S If he wanted to spend £35 on me I would rather have something I can keep like a bag or shoes lol.
