well i can kind of agree that for me, £35 would be better spent in savings than on flowers...... valentine's day doesn't need money being spent. you don't need to spend money to show that you care about someone.

i don't know if you should be 'pleased', but i don't think you should be upset.

I think you're right to be miffed OP. I don't think you have to spend a lot on valentines day, just make an effort. I'd be happy with a 99p card, a £3 teddy bear and a nice dinner in the house.

Tight git. But did you buy him anything, if so wrap it round his neck lol

He might come in later and cook you a lovely meal with a massage afterwards.............

    And he might not lol

My OH and I discussed it at the weekend and decided to do absolutely nothing, just a nice meal.

Lamb shanks in the slow cooker and they smell lovely
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Valentines day is just a money making scheme.
If he shows his love to you all year round, does it matter that he didn't buy you any flowers?

We were all discussing this at the weekend (DH & I, BiL & SiL) SiL and I had both said to our DH's that we were quite happy with just food!
DH buys me flowers whenever he sees them reduced and I think that's much nicer because he knows I love flowers and hate spending money!

If we celebrated valentines I would have been well miffed at him spending £35 on flowers. I would prefer a handmade card and a big kiss :)

22 years on and still no Valentines. Still happy, still married & still broke :rotfl:

  • If he had done somethng else that meant a lot of thought and effort went in to it, rather than cash then i would not mind at all.

If he had done nothing I would be upset( I had a love letter in my bag lol).

    x

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!
  • P.S If he wanted to spend £35 on me I would rather have something I can keep like a bag or shoes lol.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!
