Hi Nothing as of yet, probs early next week we should here something, Not sure how strict they are in accepting people for these current accounts ?

I'm guessing with this Sunday being the cut off date for applications a lot of people have applied recently so due to the high volume we might have to wait a bit longer than usual for something to come through the post. I just found it a bit strange that I didn't get an automated email response when I applied because this has happened for every other bank account I've applied for (as far as I can remember).

  • Any updates yet asz/Dan? I applied last week and even though I wasn't expecting an email I'm just wondering what the latest timescales are...

    Hi,

I've recently spoken to the account switching team on the phone, and have some more info.

Because of the cut off for the switching bonus, they've had a huge increase in applications (this seems to have surprised them). If you apply online instead of in a branch they don't process it there and then but send it to a person to actually "do" the opening. This is taking about five working days. After this, the account is open and you start getting stuff in the post in the days that follow, as if you had opened it in a branch the day they get round to processing it.

At the end of the online application cycle, you are asked if you want to receive a copy of the welcome info, terms and conditions etc in the post. If you tick the box to say that you do not want to be sent this, they won't send it to you! The first you know is when you get a card in the post.

So, if you ticked that box, don't expect anything and give it two weeks.

If you didn't tick the "don't post me stuff" box, you'll get something about a week or so in.

If you're worried, give their switching team a ring, they'll tell you what's going on.

  • Thanks asz - hopefully I'll see something in the next few days then.

Does anyone know, If I was to apply for one of their savings accounts as soon as this current account is set up would another credit check be automatically carried out? I applied for a modest overdraft so I'm assuming I have recently been credit checked.

    Not for a savings account.
  • Hi, I'm after some more help with this account please??

I have recieved the welcome pack with countless paperwork included, there is a switching form (not interested) and also a Signature Mandate form, are these tied together i.e. I only need to return the SM form if I want to switch or do I need to return the SM form regardless? It really isn't very clear in the main welcome letter.

Also, I've just tried to register for internet banking, filled out all my details, selected a password etc and entered it all in, go to log in and the first thing im asked was my username... definitely wasn't asked to choose a username during the registering... tried my name but that didn't work. Even tried the "forgot your username" option and that couldn't help as I've "only recently registered" Anyone know how I go about getting/finding my username?

    Thanks
