Any particular book/website/resource Alchemilla?
Our new budget does look more resilient, but the problem with a succcessful budget is you need to test it for a year to prove that it works. For example, if I've got a £100 expense coming up in 1 month, there's not much point calling it £8.34/mth, as the money will be needed far sooner. I think our first real challenge is to get these shocks out of the system?0 -
Just wanted to say congratulations on passing your driving test :j and lovely news about your new nephew0

I skimmed over the main sections, but the whole thing seems to be a Dave Ramsey vehicle, from books and CDs to preferred financial advisors. Even the 'basics' were wedged in behind lots of paid for content. I'm sure he's a great guy, I just felt a bit like I'd walked into a timeshare presentation when I visited that particular web address
In the end I ordered a book from the library by that nice chap Alvin Hall, he's less offensively American
The fact that our emergency fund has effectively kicked the bucket has not slipped my attention, something that all the PF writers seem to agree on.
Mrs E and I have been budgeting like crazy all weekend and are facing up to some home truths about our actual 'wealth' vs. how rich we feel we are. It's like a lightbulb moment, we have been running before we learned to walk with the mortgage etc.0 -
Alvin Hall is ace.
Well done on your LBM.
I need similar.0 -
I really like Alvin Hall - I learnt about having saving pots for car maintenance, annual bills etc from him
