Are you still looking for a new job?
Every day DDFW
Realistically tho, I can't earn less than £20k at this point due to maternity leave, so my options are either a better version of what I do now, or a lucky break. Think I'll need to lower my sights to change to either of the careers mentioned (at least in the short term).
It's nice to have a few ideas even if they're not instant possibilities.0 -

At least until the baby comes along, all of our problems are first world problems (i.e. saving less, as opposed to not having any savings).
I think we're down with essentials and you would no doubt have been amused by our many withering glances when a relative told us all about their £800 pram :rotfl:
Realistically speaking, as we have a large extended family, I think that we can expect to get most of the essentials as gifts anyway, as we don't have demanding specifications. Again, not trying to sound like we have a sense of entitlement, just the reality of new babies in big families!
All sounds to be going in the right direction. Well done.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
Hi Mr E, I wish I had had your common sense at your age
Sounds like you've worked out a good plan re reducing spends etc.
£800 on a pram :eek: Your way of life seems different to your relative. I have no idea how much they cost now but hopefully there are cheaper ones.
What a lovely exciting chapter you are starting.

Your way of life seems different to your relative
That's the thing Tilly, it isn't, or at least it shouldn't be.
Educated to a similar level with decent jobs, but live in a worse part of the city, constantly run into (self created?) financial disasters and general skintness.
They have a few more toys (i.e. modern smartphones whereas we're on early generation ones that they don't sell any more and seldom use), I suppose the main differences are driving *everywhere* and a bit too much leisure travel.
This MFW lark is very easy when you love being at home :rotfl:0 -
E DH and I have personal spends of £50 a month...
I think you will find when you put word out that people will offer you loads of stuff and unexpected people at that. Some people hesitate to offer second hand stuff in case they offend.
Exciting times!

Indeed they do. I remember when mine were very little somebody very diffidently asked me whether I'd be offended if they offered me second hand stuff for them and I was bewildered - it had never occurred to me that anyone could find that offensive!Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49

I'm not surprised!

Several sprogs
Noah's ark of animals
Something like 8x our fuel spend
Not having a dig, surprised you have anything left Al
Currently faffing about at work, auditing while waiting 25 mins for SP to answer phone is not fun0 -
Got through after a 50 minute wait (SP are so poor that I went for the loo mid-hold and it didn't even matter) :rotfl:
Long story short, they can see I have a new supplier, but have no idea why they haven't settled my £400+ credit for gas. £10 for 'calls' and another wait to follow
I would love a rooftop of solar panels, dealing with utility companies is a total joke.- 37p payout from TCB

Only two animals unless you count woodlice, spiders and silverfish.0

So, what does hound upkeep entail?
I think my aquarium costs £20/mth tops, could easily half that if I wasn't into growing plants and just went for low maintenance choices.
And don't you have a horse?0
