Natwest took half of my money!

  • Make several copies of the receipt beforehand.

LOL Something told me that I should do that and have printed off 5 copies of the receipt.
For those wondering, I did get my money back from Natwest and was given Silver account free for a year.

    Stand your ground on this.

    You have the receipt.

Unless they can provide compelling evidence that the receipt is incorrect that is what will stand up with any complaint to the FOS or a court.

Follow the complaints procedure and move it on to the FOS if Nat West don't play ball. It might make time but you will get this money back.
  • Yeah I have been thinking of taking this issue to the Ombudsman, will have to wait till the 24th of Feb before they can get involved. Got too much scheduled today to visit Natwest so I'll be making my trip their tomorrow afternoon. Is their anyone I should demand to speak to (Ask for the manager straight away?) or should I deal with the person who's at customer services first and try and solve the matter with them?

If you can spare the time I'd try and get it sorted with CS first as going in there and demanding a manager straight away (which you'd be entitled to do IMO!) might not work as well.

I'm thinking that if you come across as trying to be reasonable then they should (..!) be more inclined to help you.

From this point on, conduct all correspondence in writing. Do not deal with them over the phone or in person. They will lie, lie and lie again.

On the 24th of December 2011 my mum and dad deposited £400 into my bank account. The branch gave them the usual customer receipt and I went to my online banking and saw £400 had just been put into my account. I purchased a few things that left me with £50 remaining on my account. On the 28th of December I checked my account online and noticed that on the 24th of decemeber an EXTRA £200 had been deposited to my account, and that on the 28th of december the £400 I put in had been removed due to a *Correcting Entry*. I also noticed that because of this I was now overdrawn. As of today I have overdraft charges of £132 on my account.

I complained to natwest about the situation and recently received a letter stating Natwest collections contacted the branch the money was deposited into and they state that £200 was put into my account and that the concern is now resolved . When I told the guy I wasn't happy about this because £200 is basically missing from my account he said all he can do was to report the concern and that they'd go through the exact procedure again . I just want to close the account now, this isn't the first time this happened (Last time £500 was put into my girlfriends account, then withdrawn, then deposited and withdrawn again due to multiple correcting and re-correcting entries). Any idea on how I can resolve this?

Edit: As of 5 minutes ago £200 was put into my account by birmingham collections and then REMOVED by them straight away due to correcting entry. This is just getting out of hand now

Does your girlfriend have any debts with the RBS group who lives at the sames address as you out of interest?
