Thats part of the issue, you dont know there is a problem because a picture of bliss is easily paninted. You make up excuses, blame yourself, then there is the embarrassment....

^^ This. I knew the marriage was down the pan before DS2 was conceived but I carried on as if things would fix themselves. It was only DS2 being admitted to hospital when he was 2 days old, watching him being taken away for a lumbar puncture, seeing him with a canula in his hand and wires monitoring him that shook me. I thought I was going to lose him and ended up collapsing on the ward and spending the night in A&E on my own. I couldn't see DS for another 2 days due to the diagnosis of gastroenteritis & exhaustion and during that time the clouds started lifting and I could see what was happening in life.

It took another few weeks before it came to a head but before DS2 was even 3 months old, the marriage was kaput. That poor wee boy will never know what it's like to be in a family and in a round about way he is the reason the marriage is over but he's a good reason.

The lady I met recently (the mum of a girl I worked with years ago) asked me why I didn't tell my parents teh same way her daughter said nothing. I said I buried my head in the sand and just accepted that what was happening was normal. It took the shock of DS2 to make me see sense but for months my parents had no idea. They saw a couple who laughed, had fun and looked happy. Behind closed doors however we barely spoke, never went anywhere and basically lived as friends with no benefits.
Forgot to say yesterday, I got a goodfellas takeaway peperoni pizza for £1 but the cheese one was £1.99!!
Also managed to pick up a lonely box of Temptations at N0rthc0tt yesterday too, spotted it on the shelf and above it were the individual packs of the biscuits from it but no SEL for any of them. Picked it up just incase and was ready to get it taken off if came up at £8.
None of the scanners worked in that store, does anyone know if they ever did or was it just me???

That store is the same as @rds - new scanners but the lights are on and no-one is home. Must be a problem with the new ones.

Oh dear I have had the worst Valentines ever.

I normally don't partake because hubby was never very romantic.

He goes away for a few days work, gets me to book table at restaurant so I buy new clothes and get dressed up, feeling happy etc, only to be told when we get home he is moving abroad and as I don't want to drag kids to another country (on a whim), that basically we are finished!

I'm in shock and I feel a complete fool and don't know what to do!

We have had lots to deal with over the past couple of years and I have been his rock and picked up all the pieces.

Sorry to be on a downer but I don't know what to do.
    H

I'm lost for words  Just muttering out loud but how could he take you out for a meal then tell you that he's been plotting his escape for a while and only now telling you that there's a problem. I'm so sorry hon - that's *bleeping* nasty

  • _party_Happy Birthday Madmuppet! Hope you have a super day!
    :bdaycake:

3dogs - hope all goes ok for you, and also to any others who have poorly loved ones I hope things get better for you all.

We were called in to hospital on Friday evening to be told that was the end for my grandad and it was time to be around him, he'd have 12-24 hours before he would leave us, he was totally unconcious and struggling to breathe

We started to question the care that had been given as there'd been so many !!!! ups from the nurses and doctors, this doctor then decided to change the treatment on the offchance it may work.... things started to look up, then my grandad was moved from the god awful ward he was on to a specialist lung ward....

He's now doing ok, still serious but no longer critical, he's conscious and able to talk, it was so good to hear him tell me he loved me and to hold my hand!

So a bit of advice to you.... if you ever have doubts about treatment, the care being given etc, question it, don't feel that you shouldn't ask questions, question everything!!

Oh so sorry to hear this hr9.

Was he hoping you'd be pleased and that the whole family would move and make a new start? Green pastures and rose tinted glasses etc.

Or does he know you'd wouldn't want to move and so it's his "easy get out card"? A clean cut and run where you're the difficult one and he's got the family's best interest at heart so it's all your fault?

    Two very different scenarios.

You also say it's a "whim" ... if he's a dreamer by nature he may not have thought it all through properly and so it may never become a realistic proposition. In a week or two when he's thought it through more he may change his mind again.

I think I'm going to give HO a ring later to see if I can get the rest of my DTD from this morning. Never rung them before though. Any tips from people? :)
