Don't buy memory in offline in a shop. You get ripped off something rotten.
I just bought a 16GB SDHC card suitable for camera use for £10 delivered from amazon perfered seller *indigo starfish* Where the cheapest I could find offline was 4GB for £9.
It makes life so much easier to use memory cards, because you'd just need to pull it out, and shove it in a card reader (portable or inbuilt into laptop) OR just throw in a USB lead and have it show as a drive.
16GB should be more than enough, especially as you should be removing your pictures each time you use the camera, and storing them elsewhere in 2 different places. (think about it, what happens if you break/lose the camera?) If you break the camera, chances are the card survives, internal memory might not, and even if it does might be costly to recover from through a company etc.If you lose the camera, you're screwed either way sadly, but at least by regular downloading of images your loss is at a minimum.0 -
Most times when you plug in the USB lead Windows itself will ask to upload the media regardless of source, as it just sees the attached item as storage. This should be easy enough -just don't lose your photos!
Have you tried Flickr http://www.flickr.com/ or Picasa http://picasa.google.co.uk/ and seeing if their online software can retreive the images directly from the camera?
You've not posted enough information either about your setup.
If you get really stuck try ASDA or another photo shop who'll put all the images on a compact disc for you. You might have to order some first.
I'm not really sure why it's such a big job!
