Would you change a sky blue bathroom suite ???

Hi, I wonder if you could help settle an argument between me and hubby. We have a 70's style sky blue bathroom suite which is in excellent condition and is very high quality compared to a lot of the new stuff we have been looking at. Now I want to keep the suite and paint the walls a nice pale lemon colour. Also, I keep reading that these coloured suites might become popular again in coming years. Hubby however says that they are old fashioned and everybody hates them. He wants to rip it out and change it for a modern white suite. He says we would never sell the house with this rubbish in it.
One question - would you keep or change? Thank you very much indeed.

If I was to keep it I wouldn't paint the walls yellow...Lightbulb Moment 17/09/20060

Agree with cosworth monkey....lemon would make the blue screech. A neutral mid brown/dark cream would probably work better.
Think of the recent craze for turquoise and chocolate browns, and then pastelise it a bit (is pastelise a word???).0 -
I agree, I would keep the suite and choose a colour scheme to compliment it, not too sure it would be yellow though.0

I would rip it out!!!!
If you keep it stay away from yellow, pink and green, would look awful!
Not sure how I'd paint the room to go with that tbh.If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
Yes, get rid, get a nice new shiny white one..........................
Ive just had a new bathroom and it's absolutely brilliant.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

We did take out a blue suite and replaced it with an ivory one, now the only way is white, DD took out blue and replaced with white last year. If you can afford it replace it if not do some amazing colour scheme and enjoy it.0

My Dad's got a sky blue bathroom suite, granted his is teamed with blue and black cloud effect tiles which takes the theme a bit too far!
If all it would take at present is a bit of paint I'd give it a go, see if you can live with it, if not you can always rip it out at a later date. As for colours I'd go for something very neutral, if you want to go for yellow then I'd choose a really pale one.

Personally I would keep the bathroom suite only if it is in keeping with the over all style of the house, i.e. a "retro" 1950/60's look. If you plan to sell such a house for a good price you would need a buyer who also likes that style. Buyers who would want to rip it all out to create a more contemporary decor would expect this to be reflected in the price - not necessarily a bad thing.
Certainly not yellow - I would never put two primary colours nor shades thereof together in a decorating colour scheme.0 -
White is definitely the only colour a bathroom suite should be. I can't ever see coloured suites coming back into fashion. If you're planning on staying put and you like it then keep it but if you're planning on moving anytime soon expect peope to knock you down on price for needing to replae the bathroom suite.0
