House = white goods. How to choose a dishwasher?

  • My mum changed a few things at the same time (my brother replaced her kitchen for her) and bought all Bosch on that occasion. The tall fridge and freezer are thus far faultless; I'm planning to buy a tall (but not too tall) Bosch freezer.

The Bosch washing machine that she got three years ago is still going strong and that impresses me. My hideously lazy much older brothers have been sending their washing home for the last eighteen years since moving out and at three loads a day no washing machine had previously managed more than two years. I don't need a washing machine; the previous owner left a six month old Hotpoint that they didn't need as they were moving somewhere with built in appliances. After a cleaning cycle it seems to be working well.

So I do overall 'like' Bosch. I'm just torn on their dishwashers; do I really want to spend more money on something that deep down I'm not convinced is going to last a reasonable time. And given that it is that much more expensive would I want to spend more money on an additional warranty anyway?

Is it just for you? A slimline holds 7/8 place settings as opposed to th 12 in the full size.

As faras the models you have mentioned the bosch would be my choice every time, Beko would not get a lookin and the hotpoint isn't much better. As the programmes take about an hour the noise levels are important .

Do you have a stockist of siemens near you? same company as bosch, yhough usually a bit cheaper.

Same group (BSH) but not same company although some common parts and Siemens are the premium brand of BSH and are certainly not usually cheaper than Bosch for comparable models at all.
I do agree they are good though but looking at budget of OP probably not appropriate here

Extended warranties on white goods are a complete waste of money. Even the cheap tat should last 3 or 4 years.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thats what I'm hoping... at least three years and then when it does need replacing I'll see whats in the coffers and whats available without feeling hard done by.

I've bitten the bullet and ordered the Beko.

Extended warranties are normally covered in my family by the use of the 2ukp and 1ukp closed tin system. :)

    Thanks for all the advice.
