brilliant little site. Could pay using paypal as well :). Just ordered some seeds. Looking forward to trying the Asparagus peas. Saw these in the Kitchen Garden magazine and wanted to try those out. Thanks for the link. :T

Watch out for the quantity of seeds though, for example, most of the carrot seeds have 150 per pack for 50p.

I've seen them in wilko's for a similar price but with 2000 per packet.
similar with cabbage, 20 seeds per pack, wilko 400.

I like vegetableseeds.net they have a large variety, and the packets though a little more expensive than moreveg, are full size and they send a planting guide by email for the seeds you buy.

    Lidl

Not clear what exactly is on offer but next week they return at the same basic price as last year.

Small veg and flower packets 29p, 2 for 50p making the offer 25p These tend to have far more seeds that other budget suppliers (1000+ for lettuce for example).
Large packets 2 for £1 - best deal for peas and beans.

Aldi had lots of packets of different flower seeds for 39p
  • Poundland are back this season...

Maris Peer (8 main crop seed pots)
pentland Javelin (8 early seed pots)
    Various fruit/rose/flower bushes
    Mushroom growing kits
8 packs of seeds (salad and veg)
and various starter kits and packs of seeds (both veg and flowers)

I went in today and had a ball, although you will need to check the plastic bag on the potatos as some are miss labeled, well they were in my local.

I wanted to get the exotic pea and bean selection from poundland.

I planted them last year and they did really well. The only drawback was the seeds are all mixed up in the same bag so it can be difficult to know which is which.

I wanted to grow these again but they don't seem to have this selection this year.

I had a mixed experience of buying plants from Lidl. Last year I bought a bag of mixed flower bulbs, including Gladioli's and 2 other varieties. Only the Gladioli's came up and all were planted at the same time and in the same area.

I tend to go with Wilko's as had lots of success with their seeds. Can't really fault them. Mum's friend also used their seeds on her allotment and she had a great year.

This year Mum's bought some seeds from Aldi and we'll get some more on Saturday. So we'll see how they turn out!
  • I bought some Lidl seeds and it appears they still have some of last years stock which they are putting at the front of their carousel displays. Look a little further back and you will find the new packet design, it has a manila tag with the plant name printed on the front and a longer sow by date.
There also appears to be a printing mistake. There are packs which are labelled runner beans with a picture of French beans and the growing instructions are for climbing French beans. The beans are white and too small to be runner beans. I think they must be climbing French beans as their dwarf beans this year are a variety called Saxa.
