I got spring onions, lollo rosso, godetia and candytuft. Quite a selection and use by date of 2014The Works has Mr Fothergill seeds at 50p a packet. Didnt look to see what they had though but it was mainly veg.

I've used Alan Romans for years and had good germination etc, they come in just the inner foil packet, no outer packet with sowing info though but obviously you they have that information on their site. Last year I ordered some bits and bobs from Pennard Plants www.pennardplants.com/categories.php?cat=7 they have some more unusual and heritage seeds (and sowing info on their packets!).
I use Franchii seeds (Seeds of Italy)quite a lot too, they are not especially cheap when compared to Thomspsons etc- about the same price, but the packets contain HEAPS of seeds. So if I am buying carrot seeds or salad leaf seeds I always buy from them.
I wasn't going to buy anymore seeds this year, I was convinced I had enough....might just check out More Veg and Seed Parade though- is anyone else a seed addict? I have just sown enough seed for 120 tomato plants, 20 different varieties of tomato and yet I just know if I see a new or unusual variety I will HAVE to have it, same with Pumpkins- at least I don't feel that way about shoes, I'd be broke!0 -
Just ordered 15 packets of veg/herb seeds and a length of fleece off moreveg and got change from a tenner :j
We went for a mooch around the garden centre today and they wanted at least £2.29 for a packet of seeds
Admittedly you don't get as many seeds in the moreveg packets as you do with the big named brands but I don't want to plant 90 tomatoes that are all the same variety, I like a little bit of everything in my garden :T
So thank you very much for the moreveg suggestion it is much appreciated0 -
I meant at The Works, surely they aren't selling onion sets too?!yorkieorchid wrote: »Onion sets are good value too at 99p for a bag of 70 sets variety Sturon.

I'm very impressed with 99p store Goodlands 6 in 1 sweet peas.
6 types; claret, bijou, salmon pink, special striped mix, scented mixed, spencer mixed.
It says 10 of each type but I had between 14 and 20 of each.
I've soaked them overnight and 50% have opened ready to go and the rest look good too, so if they all bloom that will be great value.
edit. I know they are not veg but I grow them along side my veg to attract insects.0 -

My Moreveg seeds have arrived! Oh my goodness I may have over done it. But then there are a lot of packets and not that many seeds so I won't be carrying excess over to next year which was kind of the idea!
Oh and Aldi had onion sets for about £2. They are sturon and look quite good. I am going to have another crack at onions this year as last year they got shaded out and I learned through bitter experience that onions don't like to be shaded out! <note to self: put enough room between the rows to get the hoe down it easily.>Well behaved women rarely make history.0 -
I too think i may have got carried away at moreveg , but am in full agrrement that they are very good value and I wont feel the need to find people to give unwanted plants too as I grow all of a packet at a time - sort of an obsession !0

OK starting the 2013 listing here and will revise as the seed packets hit the shops
Wilkos

Otherwise cheapest packets 60p per pack – with 3 for 2 deal = 40p
Limited range at this price but the only single pack budget source of some brassicas (cabbage, cauliflower, sprouts and purple sprouting all available at in the budget range). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
