Piq..I appreciate you're low honey but please see if you can hang onto the the Captain for a bit longer. It'd break your heart to lose him in this way.

Am sure you're sad and low..it's been swimming through treacle for a bit now for lots of people and I know how hard you have tried to get work in your usual skillet..but you always find a silver lining. Hope you can this time too.

    Much love xx

Oi! Madam boot up bum coming.
    First huge hug
    Yes life is tough
    You are NOT A LOSER
Yes you may have to consider a sharer or a loan for Captain short term
    You will survive
What about a lodger you can get this without declaring income might help?
I suspect people just think, good, employed, positive not wallowing.
Come on chin up petal x

Agree Missrir..think a lodger, maybe even weekdays only, would be ideal and maybe company too...?

Think we have mentioned this before ;) but surely it's a better bet than losing the Captain x

    PIQ..my heart breaks for you.
There must be a way forward and we are all here to help whatever way we can.
A lodger was the first thought that entered my mind as you don't need to declare the income
Am so sorry it is taking a long time to get a F/T job..I'm absolutely sure that it's not anything you're doing wrong..it's the dire economy to blame
Is there anything you can do S/E ...cleaning houses/typing/ironing etc etc and build your income up that way
Do any of your family wish to move back in and pay a decent rate for board rather than pay rent/bills on their own place.
DD2 moved back in with us and gives us £250 p/m ...she helps with housework and stuff too and is really happy paying that as she has loads of money left for herself and the money is a godsend for me since I can't work at the moment
these might be totally useless suggestions but all I can think of at the moment

    Morning!

Stop it folks, all this love is making me cry even more. I have little puffed up eyes, not a good look.

I cannot get a lodger, to get to the bathroom you have to go through my bedroom, not ideal in the night....only family can do this and they are all settled wherever they are, even Australia :(

I cannot share/loan the Captain, he is very old for a working horse, 27. He shouldn't be ridden everyday, especially during the winter when he gets very stiff. Whoever takes him on will have to understand this. He is my major expense and love, but the expense thing is winning out at the moment. This week I don't have enough money to go grocery shopping, just as well I work in a food shop and am an adequate store cupboard chef.

Today I have to go for a blood test, otherwise I will not get my next dose of thyroxine. Which means more fuel used up!

After which I will go and see the Captain and try not to weep all over him, not sure what I will do with him today as he may be stiff from the cold night, I'll decide when I see him.

Then I will go through the job boards yet again, it's not just me, but now is the wrong time of year. Nothing is going to come up until the New Year now, the holiday season is kicking in.

Thank you for being so kind

On my way to the blood test centre I'm going to call into the village Post Office and look at the board, see if anyone needs a cleaner, ironing, garden tidy. A good suggestion from taxi - thank you.

Keep going Piq, there IS always a way. What I omitted from my last post was that we managed to keep five horses (!!!) when we were living hand to mouth - miracles happened, we kept going. Wonderful friends lent us money, which is now all paid back. Good idea to look for small jobs on the post office board - look everywhere. What about helping a stressed family with some cooking over Christmas, as your food always sounds delicious? Put a quick card up in the PO yourself! We are all here for you, you know. xxxx
