Hi guys, bit of a long shot here but I took out a loan in 2003 for a car, I think it was about 3k. The problem is I honestly have no idea who it was with! Now is there anyway of finding this information out or am I basically screwed?Ive had a couple of credit cards too in which I believe I paid PPI and also car insureance! But again, it was nearly 10 years ago so I have no details! Is there anyway of finding this info out?

Hi there
You can try tracking down the account number of that account on old bank statements, when did you settle it?
If your still with the same bank, where you paid the monthly repayments, and bank online, this may allow you to go back as from 2002 or 2003 onwards, the account number is normally shown next to the monthly repayment.
Or call into your branch, and they will check for you.
So bascially from there, as long as you know you were paying PPI and have reasons for being mis sold, account numbers are fine to use to make a reclaim.
Hope this helps.
Also another way would be to do a credit report online, free for 30 days, but remember to cancel before then, or you pay £2 for a full report, google in Credit Report (UK) or Equifax, or Experian etc.
So if you were still paying for these in the last 6 years, the name of the business will be shown in the credit report.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Get a copy of your credit report for free using the credit expert free trial & it will be listed on there.
Make sure you cancel it after the free trial though or they charge £6.99 per month. Good luck0 -
Hi, I am new to this site so I hope I am typing in the correct place to get the answer.
I have had some car loans starting 2003, 2007, and a few credit cards and I dont know if I have been charged PPI on them. I have now got a credit report copy but this does not give me the account number that is required when filling out the template for step 1 of claim, although it does show the company, or the credit card. Do you know how to find out the account numbers.?
Thanks0 -

I think I settled it around 2004 as I sold my car and settled then (I think)
I don't think there's any point in getting my credit report as this as over 6 years ago so I guess asking my bank for statements from like 2003 is my best bet? But won't my bank (TSB) charge me for that?0 -
Update, found I took out a 3k loan with nationwide and then about 1.1k of car insurance with direct line! TSB old bank statements online did the trick!
Im pretty sure ppi was mis-sold to me, so what now. Do I simply follow the many templates there is on these forums so start with?
Oh and I can't remember if I did the loan on the net OR over the phone!
Is there a way of finding that out?0 -
Another edit, my loan was paid off in late 04 and I have no paperwork so it seems I won't be able to claim as over 6 years old. Damn!0

Hi there
Check with your bank account of where you were paying the repayments of the loans, it they are still active or even if you settled within the last 6 years, they should still hold the account numbers at least and if you know you were sold ppi and have reason to make a reclaim, you can continue to make a reclaim.
Whoever you taken out the credit card with, you can contact them, or if this was your bank, call in and they should give the details on request.
Hope this helps, good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

The bank should charge you, if you call in they will check the files for you on computer and let you know the account numbers.
And as for any over the last 6 years, that does not matter, many here have made successful reclaims even from accounts taken out in the 90's and earlier.
Fingers crossed. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

To make a reclaim - complete a reclaim questionniare as on step 3 below, send to the ones responsible to selling you the account, head office or complaints dept, remember to save copies back for yourself as well.
Try to remember all you can, sometimes it can be difficuilt if it was a long time ago, but if your sure you were mis sold for whatever reasons you may have give it a shot.
