Car registered but no delivery

  • as your so eager for delivery OP i can see you just about to jump in a drive home without checking it over properly,

make sure theres no dents scratches and damage to interior and the spec you ordered is there. look at it from all angels, check all electrics, and check the inspection sheet they do when they take delivery, see if they plugged it in to the computer for ECU updates etc. if you see nothing noted down ask is there a ecu update? the sales rep will takle 2 seconds to flip it up onscreen to see if there is, and have his tecky plug it in and do it whiole paperwork is completed.
  • We are concerned that now the car was registered on 31st January, it is starting to lose value already, and the warranty has started to run down.

Thats why the dealer gave you a discount, its a pre-registered car. If you waited for a 12 plate car you would not have got a discount
We agreed to register the car in January, so they can meet their targets in return for a discount.

A delivery estimate is just that, an estimate. Call the dealer to find out if he can give you an update. If you're still wating in a couple of weeks thats when I'd go back to the dealer to discuss a further discount or rejecting the sale.

Sheesh, the op only asked about delivery times, you're turning it into a full blown tech support update including latest firmware updates. As long as it works, leave it be. Don't fix what isn't broken.

If you want to be that pedantic, it's angle not angel (thats one of those things that fly around the sky with god and have a glowing halo above their head). Oh and sentences begin with a capital letter!

Wise words to check for slight damage or repairs in case thats the reason for delay (even thiough its unlikely)

Also, as its a Fiat 500 make sure they don't screw the rear number plate on, otherwise you will have rust streaks running down from beneath the plate (they should be stuck on)

fank u vry mch fr pnting ot me bad grummer.

as a side note i gave advice as to what OP should look out for when taking delivery.

who said about fixing? firmware updates are carried out when theres a service or warranty anyway and asking IF there is one available already and have it done there and then is no skin off their !!!!!! it doesnt take long and could be completed by the time paper work is done.

as for pulling me up on my spelling i'll direct you to the forum etiquette. and kindly ask you to keep your opinions about peoples grammar to yourself in future, you may actually offend someone if they have dislexia or learning disability because this is an open forum anyone can post!

So does God!:) It's that's too.
You need to be very careful about being without flaws when policing grammar and spelling.
  • Thanks for the responses guys.

As I stated in the original post, we are not in a desperate rush to get the car home.

The car was not a 'prereg'. If it was, we would be able to pick it up immediately, as pre-regs are already in the dealers posession, are technically second hand, and thus command a substantial discount.

Ours was a brand new factory order. We could have insisted on a march delivery to get 12 plates.

But the dealer offered us a slight discount (£400) if we agreed to register the car in January (to swell their numbers in a traditionally slow month). In return the dealer said they had a batch of cars which would be delivered in early febuary, one of which would be allocated to us.

Again, i dont really care if its a week late or whatever, but Im concerned by the dealer's vaguety that they are screwing us by doing the January reg, but then just waiting for the car to turn up as part of a normal delivery cycle.

Never thought about the damage aspect, Beware of a dealer that opens the door for you or stands in a certain position. Mate got his new car home and found a couple of dimples and a scratch on the door.
