I can comment OVO as I am with them for another few weeks. Their bills are very straight forward and they try to make things easy for the customer. However they will expect you to remain in credit at all times unlike some companys who will allow for any debit balance to even its self out over the summer months.

They will refund any credit balance to you provided you do not go below your monthly payment. I have also found they are quick at raising the dd once you have joined. This explains why I am now £420.00 in credit.

Also can be difficult to get any refund.

I've tried them but am pleased to be leaving them and going back to Scottish Power.

Other people may or may not agree with my comments but I can only go by my
    own experiences with OVO.

    cheers for that

think i will maybe go for:

np power go fix10 or eon save online 11

I'm in the same boat. Does anyone go and have a look at what a supplier charges per KWH and the daily charge and see which is the cheapest? Rather than just putting your annual usage and taking it from there?

Because I've looked before and they cheapest quote per annum doesn't always have the cheapest gas/elec/daily charges. I'm a bit suspect and I'm sure I've read before that those firms that don't pay a commission get bumped down or don't feature at all in some cases.

That's what the comparison sites do, given your annual kWh usage.
It's no use comparing a kWh rate and choosing the cheapest that way. How else can you compare two tier tariffs against ones with a daily standing charge and a single rate? You can make a spreadsheet do the work of comparing for you, but why bother when it's already done through a comparison site?
Personally, I let a comparison site highlight the suppliers who may work out best for me and then put their rates into my own spreadsheet. I can then play "what if" scenarios and vary my annual usage to see what sort of effect it may have.

if i do decide to switch when should i start the process as mu current deal runs out on the 31st march?

    cheers

  • I have been with OVO for a year and have had no problems.

They do like you to keep your account in credit, but will pay APR of 3% on your credit balance.

I built up a large credit too and was refunded most of it less a couple of months d/d.

My contract with OVO ends in a few days, but if I take my custom elsewhere it will only be to get a better deal.

A switch will take 4-6 weeks, so you can start around the first week of March.
