To be fair you didn't have to click on this thread, you knew what it would be about. And as Beki said, it's still moneysaving, and like you yourself just said this board is about employment and not just jobseeking. I think this is one of the best boards on here and I've certainly made us of it in the past from all perspectives, and one of the best bits about it is the variety of topics

I don't think the board choice is inappropriate, but I do think decorating your workspace is unprofessional and therefore the best advice I can give is to not do it. I don't say that to be "unjolly" or harsh, I say that because I genuinely believe maintaining a tidy desk is one of those little things that demonstrate you take your job seriously and you have a good attitude.
I suspect I'm going to have to disagree with you and the OP though.
PS I forgot to say earlier, congratulations on the new job, OP.

Talk about bad taste what next, somebody asking for advice whether to buy a red or blue car with their big fat juicy bonus ? The mind boggles.0

I really need to decorate my bridge.
Everyone else's bridges are prettier than mine and I would really like my bridge to stand out when i'm hiding underneath it waiting for people to arrive. :-)0 -
Beki - you said you didn't know if it was the right place. It isn't - surely you got the vibe that it isn't fairly quickly.
You can see what the prevailing tone of this sub-forum is and your question stands out like a sore thumb. It is a fairly juvenile question anyway (imo) - and responses serve to underline it's inappropriate-ness here.
Maybe the Chat or Money Savers Arms threads would be better...?
(And this is not so say that I am not a fan of workplace design [as opposed to desk-"decoration"] - one of my favourite sites is "unclutterer.com" where there is a workplace of the week and a link to the flicker pool [although very US/Antipodean bias], but the talk is more about cable-control, streamlining and individual quirkiness, not so much teabags, crayon drawings (unless framed - see also "Young House Love/Office") or imitation plants.)
(And before any further mention of "Don't comment on thread you don't approve of"; that is precisely why I am commenting. And yes, I would say this in the realworld.)0 -
