Blimey, everyone is very serious on here today! I know my desk is where I work but spending 60hours there a week I think it's ok if I have a couple of jars of teabags and a colourful calendar to make me happy- I'm sure it will only have a positive effect on my productivity... :)
  • This is the Moneysaving in Employment, Jobseeking and Training board; where people come to get advice on matters pertaining to Employment, Jobseeking and Training.

And we get questions such as 'should I get a couple of jars to put my teabags in'. Honestly - ask yourself is it really necessary to ask people on any internet forum whether you should or should not get a couple of jars to put teabags in?

Is this what it has come to - that you can't make a decision like this without other people's inputs on desk decorating?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

I am being nice. I'm nicely saying that - quite frankly - if this is your only issue in life, then perhaps you don't really need the input of other people to enable you to make life changing tea bag decisions.

I agree with SN (which is unusual) and believe that "being nice..." - no matter what, as pointed out, is really a bit childish and short-sighted. Whilst bearing in mind that it is easy to be snarky on a keyboard/screen, there is surely room to make one's own point in response - even if disagreeable.

Beki - seriously? Teabags - potted plants? You want to bring this to a forum where people have much more serious issues? I am sure there is a place for your question if you really feel the need to ask it; but it shouldn't be on here.

(The thought of children's crayon efforts in an office environment sets my teeth on edge almost as much as topless calendars. I am pro-minimalism and worked previously for a major corporation which had a clean-desk policy. [Not many in my 40-strong team abided by it and thus, their desks were not touched by the cleaners.])

It was only a matter of time - I knew I'd win you round eventually.

    I resisted that one!

    It probably won't last :D

I - on the other hand - seem to have a non-functioning "RESTRAINT" button in some situations.

If you have your own filing cabinet/pedestal, stick some tissues and painkillers in there, together with any office stationery likely to go walkabout if you leave it out on display on your desk overnight. Any personalisation of your office space beyond that is taking it too far, IMHO.

If you must have some photos around you, stick them in your drawer and take a peek when you need to.
