Bankruptcy. That will really cause big problems in Europe and the UK will suffer.

It will start in the uk soon with all these cuts. The uk is a bit slow on the uptake but people will have had enough soon.
  • what is the role of the greek press in all of this? are they whipping up the tension?

surely an average person can see that if your country needs to borrow 130 billion euros quickly to be able to survive, that they can't continue as they are?

I don't think they expect to achieve anything other than register their anger
Actions don't necessarily need to achieve anything tangible

The fact that they're unlikely to affect change is neither here nor there

What else can they do? They are angry, and in some cases, rightly so.

Regardless of what others may think, they are being asked to undertake severe financial losses to themselves and their families for possibly decades, to shore up the Euro and banks.

I understand they had it pretty good. But then so does the UK compared to other countries, and I don't think we'd be too impressed if we were asked to take the same kind of medicine.
  • they are lefties. they don't like the fact they are being told there is no more free money to spend. despite being hundreds of billions in debt, the lefties don't want anyone sacked, or wages lowered or pensions changed. they are lefties and they demand MORE. the reality that there is nothing to give is completely irrelevant to the deluded lefty morons.

    "what do we want?"

    "not to pay any tax!"

    "when do we want it?"

    "err, we already have it!"

    cuts?
HMG expenditure is still increasing - although at a slower rate than before.
Of course to actually start to pay off the accumulated debt we need to run a government surplus. Now when did we last do that I wonder?
