I'm staggered that the Germans are not rioting instead!!

They've tried that before without much success

The markets will move on to focus on Italy and Spain, and Europe will collapse. It is very bad for us all if they do default.

If indeed, the EURO is too big to fail then it's appalling that it was ever set up.

Just like the too-big-to-fail-banks, the EURO needs to be dismantled as soon as possible as the risk of Europe collapsing is unacceptable.

The quicker it goes the better for all the peoples of Europe.

So what is the alternative that the Greek "people" would prefer?

I think it's generally not to pay back the money they borrowed, to keep to a rigid 16 hour working week and continue to retire at 35?

As I stated, I understand the argument against the Greeks. However, this is way beyond anything the Greek people could have done or been responsible for.

The Greeks have a corrupt way of conducting business in every day life. Time has run out on out dated practices.
  • When i lived there in 1999 work started at 7 30 and by 1 pm you geared down That because if by 2 o clock you made a bit of noise ,the neighbours would shout and alert the police that a ksenos(a foreigner) is disrrupting the much needed peace

To make up the day you had to come back at 5 pm and work another two or three hours ....imagine the productivity even when you are hardworking and motivated ...so many times i didnt bother returning back for the afternoon hours simply as it would take me 1 hour to go back there
Breaking up the midday sleep habit there is like you going to the church in the morning and as the priest speaks you start shouting:rotfl:

Greeks too must know something that us dont ...just till recently you couldnt run a diesel van or car in athens....think of a loaded mercedes van running on petrol and on heavy traffic...150 miles to the tank the max it could archive

When I went there a few years ago, it was virtually impossible to get anywhere to accept anything but cash. Even moderate sized hotels would not accept CC payments.
