Glasses From Opticians

  • Unhelpful because they disagreed with your opinion perhaps?
Why bother asking for advice if you only want people to reply if they think that you are correct and Boots are in the wrong?

Quite obvious I was correct though as I was given a free replacemnet.
And guided in the direction I should have been in first place.

    It probably means a lot.

Did their trained Optical Adviser provide personal advice?
    Did he discuss your needs?
Did you between you choose the spectacles?
Why do you feel you should've been advised to choose lighter frames? Are you suggesting that the frames you have are too heavy for anyone?
Did you not decide at the time that those frames were suitable?

    It was a manager.
    Yes, SHE did.
    Yes, with other input.
Because my lenses would add more weight than most peoples.
No, lighter lense would make them better.

    Happy days!

Sheffieldsaddler, why won't you answer any questions?

I have now, do I get a gold star now?
Or at least a silver one.

You picked the frames, tried them and accepted them, the blunt truth is you have nobody to blame but yourself.
Nice replies are all very well, but there is no point in giving you false hope.
You could try the goodwill route, Boots are a big company, customer service might come into play.

    I disagree.

Not necessarily, that proves you received good customer services, not that you were correct.

Glad you got yourself sorted. Boots I find are very good at customer service on the optician side.

If I saw your post earlier, I would have suggested trying to persevere with them a bit longer.

I am in the same boat -11.25 with astigmatisms. I have gone through every single permutation of plastic lenses on the market and they are all too thick, if you have a AR coat to them it looks like I am wearing purple eyeshadow !

I have zeiss high index lenses, they have to be made in Japan for me, last pair cost me £600 lenses, £99 frames. Yes they are heavier than plastic, but you do get used to them. You have to get them balanced between having the weight on your ear and your nose. I go for small frames to keep the lens slimmer. I feel so much less self conscious with these glasses.

I now need varifocals, but they are weighing in at £900 for lenses alone ! Have tried online shops, who can cater for my script. Waste of space. Even the slimmest lenses come in as bottle ends and power not in the right place for optimum sight. Am using a pair of clip on reading glasses for £12 off net at mo, look crap but do the job, only wear them in the house.

I do have a sneaky feeling that you won't like what you have now changed to, however they wont change them again.

    Good luck

Well as they used to say "the customer is always correct".

As I have really bad astigmatism I have many problems if they even a quarter of a degree out...This time it cost £90 per pair of lenses, which I thought were very very expensive

Really? How much do you think you should pay for a pair of products that have been designed, machined and polished to sub-micron precision, uniquely for you?

£20-40 ish? I work with someone who used to work in an opticians, it costs them a few pounds for basic lenses.

I have to say, got my glasses and they are perfect. Now I should stop trying to read forums when I'm tired!
