Currently there is a clubcard Avios promotion offering 400 more miles for every 2.50 token changed on the Clubcard website.
We have changed up around 150.00 worth to add to our Avios account(We can now get about five tickets)Planning for 2013

However I have emailed Avios and asked them...
What sort of seat allocation is offered paying with Avios during the school holidays? Will they really be giving us flights (which could be around 300.00 return (we usually fly to Naples,Italy)for around 15k miles then?

Has anyone actually managed to book for this year holidays to travel 2012?
I realise you need to try and book about one year in advance so we will start looking July 2012
I'm not hopeful that flights will be available unless you want to travel off peak

For two passengers, possibly, but five - unlikely.

I've been doing lots of searches since it became avios - not particulaly for school holidays. What I have noticed is that to "popular" destinations the only days I can get availability is a Tuesday or a Wednesday. As for their zone map flight finder, it keeps returning that flights are available and then when you click on "Find flights", it returns "no availablity".

That site was bad enough when it was Airmiles but now it defies description.

Agree on that. I've been browsing for flights to Oz,there is either none available,or the ones that are,you can get a lot cheaper online elsewhere.

Anoterh thing I'm unsure about is the insistence that you sign in before they let you do a search. I'm worried it might be like some otehr sites where if you do search and tehn come back later the price has gone up (obviously with avios it would be the flight not being available rather than a change in price). I know for a fact they can tell, as I compained about that zone map error I mentioned above and they replied about availability to the destination I searched for - I didn't metntion it in my e-mail to them..

The site for searching is as good as useless. I think the only way to book anything is to phone them.

Here is their reply .Hope it helps

    Thank you for your email.

On all our flights, we receive an allocation of seats that we are able tosell for Avios fares. On rare occasions, our allocation can be reducedduring peak periods. The seats we do have can also sell out quicker duringbusy periods, such as school holidays.

You can use Avios for a variety of other products, such as hotels, carhire, travel insurance, package holidays, cruises and much, much more. Ifyou did convert Tesco vouchers and found that you were unable to get theflights you required, we would be more than happy to assist you with otheraspects of your travel plans.

If you would like to discuss your holiday arrangements with one of our

  • You will be very luck to get 5 seats on 1 flight in economy, but you may get 4.

    Top tips:

    1) Consider splitting classes on the same flight (club europe is 30,000 avios plus £34). There will be one allocation of economy and one of club flights. Stick the family down the back, while you sip Champagne at the front!:)

    2) Be flexible and ready to book the day the flights come on sale (355 days before)

3)Consider booking as 2 singles, as you can then book the outbound without waiting for the return to become available.

    4) Consider other destinations - you may have your heart set on Naples, but there may be other destinations with availability, which will still give you a good value summer holiday!
