Parents of toddler's make clothes last longer

I buy dungarees that have turn ups so when the legs are a bit too short, I can unpick the stitching and let them down a bit more. If the body gets a bit tight, with the buttons, just move them down a bit. Dd has long legs so this helps a lot.
I've also kept out her summer trousers from last year to use as cropped trousers this year."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
We were away over Xmas in sunnier climes. My LO is wearing the tee-shirts now with long-sleeved bodies underneath too. They look great and also bright and colourful for this time of year:D

i buy t-shirts and shorts big enough to fit the following year too :rotfl: mind you my eldest son is tiny and never grows. don't know if it will work with the toddler! i have undone the elastic on his tesco joggers though - the ones they sold a year or two ago that were gathered at the ankle - loosening the elastic means they are still slightly gathered but become an inch or so longer

So im not that much of a tight a**e after all (lol)
This is my first child and most of my family/friends have little girls so have never knew about this.
I have been down the primark/ethel austin route and evev Asda which for some reason never fits my boy or shrink when I wash them, I like next for him but last year he really seemed to jump sizes really quickly and not get the wear out of some stuff ( maybe I bought too much in sale )thats why I played around with them.
Any more tips greatly recieved.0 -
I used to cut the press stud bit of babygroes off together with a length of the material, edge the long sides and then sew the two short edges together so that you get a piece of material about three inches long with one set of the press studs at each end. I then used to use these to secure other babygros. My LO is very long bodied so I found that whilst the babygro would still fit it would no longer go over his nappy and do up in the middle. I saved pounds by doing this. Also now he is at school I buy his uniform for the next age range, turn the cuffs and bottoms up, and then let them down again when he has grown a bit. I get two years wear out of it that way.0

LOL I thought i was the only one who done things like that! I even cut the toes off my babies babygros as their feet grow quicker than their legs put a pair of socks on and they are fine, I detest spending money on kids clothes they will grow out of in a couple of months, saying that my dd is so dinky shes 5 and some of her clothes are 2-3 I have a suitcase of clothes in the loft (sale stuff!!) waiting for her to grow into!:DI miss my mum every minute of every day

most of the tips here i used for my eldest but not for my youngest because he's such a big child - stocky i think they call it lol! his chest, shoulders, arms grow out of his clothes before the rest of him does and he needs the next size up.'bad mothers club' member 13

I cut DS's jeans and combats off every year to make shorts for him, he is tall and skinny, so he grows too tall for them very quickly, but this way I get double the wear (at least) from them. He's in size 7-8 jeans (with a belt to hold them up), but he still has size 4-5 shorts that fit him."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

I used to buy nighties for my daughter that were sized 2 or 3 years older than her age. They started off as floor length and she wore them until they were "shortie" nighties. I was sorting through her laundry recently and found some "big" pants that she had in primary school, she now wears them with a T-shirt to bed - she's 18 next week!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
