can't decide if I am taking this money saving a bit far ...
we are going away in April so little fella needs new summer clothes for hol's but didn't really want to pay out for some 'summer' outfits
knowing that by our summer (if we get one )he will have outgrown them
So I was looking through last years outfits and started to mess about with his combats opened the elastic a afew notches and hey presto lovely trendy 3/4 trousers .. with a pair of sandals they will look great
That got me started he has got some lovely t shirts barley worn from the end of summer last year that still fit him , so I got some long sleeve white vests and put the t shirts over they look great and nice spring colours too
Think I am turning into a right tight a**e
Please tell me I am not the only one

I'm sure you're not the only one! I wouldn't feel bad as long as they still fit him ok and look fine!
I've seen my Mum buy so many clothes for my little brother that go unused because by the time he comes to wearing them their too small!
You could try Primark though if you fancy buying a few new things, their clothes normally only last a few months anyway!0 -
My 2 year old goes to bed in PJ's that look like shorts most nights. I do keep thinking I will buy her some more but she's tall and skinny, they fit her fine in the width. Any way only I see her in bed.
So no it's not just you and you are right, the crop pants will look very cute. You can spend the money you save on indulging him on his hols.

That's a fantastic idea, and very mse. Mum was always making/altering clothers when we were young. I buy bundles of clothes from ebay - if you avoid the designer ones you can get all your kit for a season for about a tenner plus postage. Often the clothes are hardly worn, particularly items that were saved 'for best' and then grown out of. I now buy a year older which still fits but allow me to safely shrink them in the wash or just reuse them next year.Annabeth Charlotte arrived on 7th February 2008, 2.5 weeks early

All sounds totally perfectly OK to me! My son is 18 months & I was told that from 1 year old until out of nappies keep the previous years trousers to cut down into shorts & I fully intend to do just that this summer:DPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
My lad is 2.5 and still wearing 12-18m clothes. You get a whole extra year out of the items once they are potty trained too, so hold onto them for next year as well!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

When mine were smaller we had a network of friends with boys ranging 2 years older in sort of 6 month gaps. We handed down and around lots of clothes, every 6 months or so we passed on a decent binbag of clothes, ideal for boys for playing out or bedtime.
Mine roughly changed twice a day if playing outside in the sand pit, changed after a busy morning at play group and 'someone else' had spilt paint on them or a busy morning at the park splashing in puddles etc.
I didn't mind a jot at swopsies, w all did it, lots of the clothes were in excellent condition. A lot of Granparents over bought for the kids, so we got morewear out of them. The problem was when they got to around 7-8 when the knees went through on most trousers and the bags became all t shirts...!Panda xx

My daughter's outgrown jeans get chopped off to make pedal pushers and my son's are chopped into 3/4 trousers or shorts...I've done it for years so don't feel bad!0
