Hi, this is the Daily Thread for xx (add date). This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Well what time is this for me to be up, a proper lazy slug-a-bed I am not getting up 'til almost 8 o'clock.
It's all down to all the excitement last night when the fire brigade were in attendance for a couple of hours, someone's shed caught fire, whether be accident or arson I don't know, no doubt one of the neighbours will tell me later.
It's still cold here but it should thaw by Tuesday according to the weather forecast.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Try a ticking alarm clock next to her bed and a warm hot water bottle well wrapped up x
The first few nights are always hard. I always ended up having mine in with me at night.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all, happy Sunday.

We had snow overnight - (north norfolk coast) still powdering now. I had to get up at six o'clock to drop ED off at a car park to be picked up by a friend to go to London for two days.

It was only having dropped her off that I worked out that I know nothing about him - so now she's cross with me. I texted to demand his phone number, car registration and surname. Obviously causing her embarrassment because some of that she had to ask for - not to mention why she got four texts within the space of two minutes.

'Don't worry mum I've got my mobile' wasn't enough for me.

Really, I feel like a very slack parent for not doing it before.

    Sorry, morning moan.

    Slow cooked chicken today.

    Morning everyone,

Bitsy, Luna is gorgeous. I am so jealous!

Sunflower, Molly, Lou and LW, hugs to you all, and anyone else I have missed out.

Just done part one of my job as house alarm clock! DS and OH need to be up for rugby. I will get the girls and our two guests up for church in a minute.

The ice and snow are still here but hopefully they will begin to melt today.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Bitsy Luna is absolutly gorgeous its a shame you dont live closer or you could have joined our dog walking club whch is where we set the world to rights every night at 6pm or 5pm on the weekend
Will be off to get fuel and my mum in a bit then roast for lunch as DD1 says it is one of the things she misses most at uni
Right better get on have a good day
  • Good morning all.
Chilly here today. We had snow overnight. Not too much, so i hope the roads are ok as am taking daughter into town. If they are bad, she won't be going.
Have got to get a new washing machine, mine decided to give up last night. It had been a bit iffy for a while. Just when hubby has been doing overtime at work to help pay for the windows, this happens. Never mind, in one hand and out of the other.
Bitsy, Luna is adorable. Puppies are hard work, well Jasper was and still is 18 months on. They are worth it though. I could never imagine not having him around.
Loads of ironing to do that has been in the airing cupboard for a couple of days. Dinner is chicken with veg.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

    RIP Whitney Houston x

No new snowfall here, temperature didn't rise above -6c all day yesterday but is supposed to be warming up today - we'll see!

Went to hospital yesterday afternoon to see my sister, she is much better and they have now established that she didn't have a heart attack she has a problem with the electric current in her heart. Apparently normally you have one vessel that carries this current but in some people they can have more than one, (her being one of this) so sometimes the messages to the heart get mixed and cause the problems. When paradmedics and ambulance got to her Thursday morning they put a heart monitor on her and normal heart beats per minute is around 70 hers was doing 200 beats per minute! So pleased they were efficient and did what was needed, yet again the staff at the nhs have our deepest thanks and gratitude - hoping after needing emergency care twice in 2 weeks for close members of my family I can stay away from a hospital for a while! Sis has been referred to heart specialist who will decide which is best way to treat her condition, meds or surgery, she should be coming home tomorrow:j:j:j:j

On the OS front we were good again last night, we were late back from the hospital and needed to collect boys from MIL and FIL's (didn't take them to the hospital as didn't know if they would cope with seeing my sis as when she went in she obviously wasn't good). Had planned to cook a whole chicken but it was too late by the time we got back so finished up just cooking some bacon, sausages and egg - DH was insistent we weren't ordering a takeaway - at last - think I've got him on side! Must plan better though, as very often find on a Saturday night I'm stuck not knowing what to cook. Have a lovely joint of pork to cook today, will cook the chicken tomorrow night, today will be a roast - will be getting that prepped and organised after I've moved my backside from this computer! DH getting ready to go out and take some paperwork over to one of our caravaning friends, he will take the boys with him, so I will get a peaceful morning, will get a long hot shower, hair wash and conditioner etc and then prep the dinner and veg whilst listening to Sunday morning love songs - which has already started so need to get a wiggle on! Not planning on moving too far today - especially not after filling up on roast dinner and a glass or 2 of vino!

    Take it steady everyone x

Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x
