Anyone know if they are covered by intellectual copyright?
I was a well respected advisor on a forum for nearly 4 years. I was recently deleted ( not my choice) but my 1000's of posts remain but with my name / profile removed ( they just say anonymous user). I've been researching the law and think they may be infringing my rights.
From what I have read it is ok for them to keep my info as long as I am credited for it? By my posts having my name removed they have gone against intellectual copyright, especially when they are copying and pasteing my information without crediting me. It is an old forum and from what I can tell from reading, newer forums when deleting people will either remove all the persons posts or leave their name by the posts they made so not causing any copyright issues.
Before I approach them I just want to check I'm on the right lines, anyone know?

I'd have a read of the forums terms and conditions, for example, on here para 7 says:-
7. Your content
7.1 Just so that you know, you own any copyright in the text that you post to our forums. However, when you post text, you expressly grant us a perpetual, unlimited free license to republish that text on our site and to redistribute/make available and/or sell that text in print or electronic form anywhere in the world as part of an edited compilation or otherwise. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
But if the site doesn't have that in their terms and conditions then do I assume I still should be credited for my information if it's used?0

This might be of interest:

Then this might be useful as well:

Bit of a hot potato, this one because it doesn't fall under copyright law as such.0 -
Wow! Thank you that's really helpful.x0
