Gas primary units used. 734 kwh @ 8.165p
    Gas secoundry used 5746 @ 3.552p
    Is this the right info?

The gas consumption (assuming its based on two actual readings) is the key number. For the winter quarter assume at least 50% of annual gas consumption. You are a little below annual "average", not bad really for a 4 bedroom with 2 (teeshirt?) clad teenagers:D.

If you are comfortable with £140/month I don't think you have much to worry about. As others have asked where does the "£558" come from? Certainly not from the posted figures or consumption.
  • I was in credit of £38
So I'm going to try and get them to explain in laymen terms, why
    account bill says £553
And bill online says the amount it does.

Not disputing that, but the helpful figures you posted earlier (from your bill) don't include "£553" or provide any clues.

Your actual billed usage in the billing period is about £277 incl VAT. That seems perfectly OK for the winter quarter, assuming that the opening and closing reads are actuals and not esimates (this is clearly indicated on the statement by the prefix 'E', 'A', or 'C' in front of the reading. It is assumed that you are on a NSC tariff?
If your statement (it's not a bill, as you pay by monthly DD) shows a debit of £553, then this made up of usage or earlier debt that is not covered by your £140 monthly DD. Have your monthly DD's all been taken and credited on the statement?

Sorryyyyyyyyy, Eon told me, what I was looking at a second part of a bill. Redone from my reading I gave them.
To all peeps that said consumption seems ok,for this period,I've been told yep it's right, but my electric is a little higher then normal, only thing I can think of is my drier being used a lot.
At least I now know it was a second bill. Which explains where the rest of the cost was.
They are going to send me some info on other tariffs they have. I'm currently on fixed till oct 2012, works out more expensive.
Very sorry if I've confused anyone, iv def confused myself. I soppose that's what happens when you get yourself worked up.
Thank you for all your help.
I wish you all a good weekend, your help has been greatly appreciated.
    have a nice day
  • well if you were in £38 credit on your last bill and the figures you showed earlier for your current bill
6480 gas kwh used from nov till feb 8th
Gas primary units used. 734 kwh @ 8.165p =£59 ish
    Gas secoundry used 5746 @ 3.552p = £201 ish

    plus 58 i think i was for electric ,
the above just simply doesnt add up, so not sure where they got the £500 odd from , maybe if you can post your current bill in full, minus any sensitive info, might give a better explanation as to where they came to that £500+ figure
  • glad you got it sorted:)

Your electricity consumption is higher in the winter quarter simply because the lights are on more when the days are shorter.

Looks like you’ve got this one sussed now cher31e.

The Account History page of your online account might help make sense of the amended bill.

To stop it happening again, keep an eye out for emails requesting meter readings, we send these three weeks before we’ll estimate your bill.
