We are thinking of moving to sky for the simple reason, they treat customers, as customers. not just figures that they could talk to like garbage.
they were also able to provide the service which they advertise.

We have also received a "detrimental use of broadband services" notification a few months ago.
30mb broadband package with unlimited downloads. when the TV box decided to start throwing a wobler we'd usually plug laptop into the TV and watch TV via the internet. i.e streaming. after 14 days we received a notification of high download usage.
another point they have also failed on. (bearing in mind, we were still having wireless issues with the router and still had to run LAN cables all over the place.

The fact is, they can't provide the service. even once repairs have been made, they still cannot provide the service.

I wouldn't touch virgin with a barge pole. Luckily we are currently in an area where they don't supply tv, but do supply internet - some friends of ours have it, as have my parents, and have had nothing but problems. I wouldn't let them supply me if they paid me to do it!

For me, it was the experience of them charging us for apparently ordering adult films (at our old address).... except we could prove with cctv that we were both at work at the time.

Like I said. Wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Couple of days later I get a call from a "senior sales adviser" who offers me a completely free phone line if I take out their fibre optic package at 10mb (which I was looking at). I agree and arrange for an engineer to come out and fit the package.

Six weeks later the engineers finally arrive after missing 2 appointments (both of which I took days off for); whilst 1 of them is fitting the fibre optic cable the other sits around doing nothing of the sorts (even though there was plenty to do by the looks of it). After installing the cable and showing me the most simple of simplistic tasks, I asked after the phone line that I had been promised, "Nope. Nothing on our list here." And off they went.

They didn't fit a fiber optic cable,I can tell you that for a fact, they fitted a standard copper Co-Axial cable.VM is ONLY fiber optic up to the main street Mux/DA in the street. From there to the cabinets then to the home it's copper. The signal is boosted from the DA to the street cabinets before it gets to the home. The Mux/DA can be up to 1/2 a mile away from you.
The reason they second guy didn't do much is they sent a 2 man crew to do a 1 man crews job, they were also contractors. The guy that stayed in the van was the outside man who did all the install stuff outside the property,or he was a trainee, job shadowing ect.
