How to make my stove heat up the whole house?

First thing is to make sure you're keeping as much of the heat in as possible, i.e. insulate everything! If you check the Old-style Money Saving forum, there's a thread called Preparing for Winter with heaps of information on cheap ways to insulate the house.
You can get a stove fan that sits on top of your stove and pushes the heat out, away from the stove - I've not used one myself, because I've got what they call a "boiler stove", i.e. a big stove linked to a boiler and radiators - which isn't cheap, it was £1500 for the stove and the same again for installation.
The other thing could be the fuel you're burning - dry ash logs are brilliant, but maybe you could try Maxibrite or Phurnacite, one of the artificial coke-type substitutes that burn hotter. I'm using E-coal, which is a b--- to get lit, but once I've built up some hot wood embers, it's OK. I'm assuming you've got a multi-fuel stove, not one that's only intended for wood?0 -
I seem to be able to keep my semi warm upstairs and down with one stove. It's a big one though ! living room average 22c and upstairs 18c. I have loads of loft insulation I put down this year made a big difference.
That's with the stove having 2 x 2inch firebricks inside one each side to reduce the grate area ! I burn wood and mixed ovoids.
Forgot to say I keep the internal house doors open to let the heat rise !0 -

I have a 5kw stove in a 3 bedroom semi detached. In the living room it will rise to 20-22 degrees and when its at this temperature i can open the door frot he hall, heat the hall and our bedroom door open to heat it, i close other doors such as into the ktichen and sitting room. This works well, i burn overnight woke up to 16 degrees this morning in bedroom upstairs0

When we first got a stove we to though it would heat more then just a couple of rooms but no... The livingroom where the stove is and the raised gallery can get very warm but the kichen next door gets very little heat and once you get to the dining room none never mind the rest of the house...0
