PC Stuck on Intel splash screen

Hi everyone,

Having an issue with my desktop PC. Its running W7 and not been in use for 8 months or so. But did test it around Oct time and worked fine. (been doing house refurb)

Turned it on today and now it will not get past the intel screen. Only things connected are HDMI cable and keyboard and mouse (both usb) tried using a VGA cable and not connecting the mouse, same thing.

Cannot even get into Bios etc and there is no f2 f8 loading screens etc.

Anyone got any advice? (Everything seems to be running inside the PC)

Edit Nothing has been removed or installed since about 2 years (dvd, hdd etc)

No, goes black for about 10 seconds and then the intel screen pops up and nothing from there on.

Check all the internal connections are secure and tight, especially hard drive(s) and don't forget to check data and power connections.

    Hi,

Checked all connections. Nothing seems to be loose, and did nothing when turned on.

Cannot load windows as when i have put in the disk the pc does not see it and no 'press any key to boot etc' pops up.

Normally if i remember correctly it make a beep noise when turned on (pretty sure even with no speakers connected). But there is no sound.

It is a Medion PC from Aldi. Just checked the receipt and it was bought Sept 09 but has a 3yr warranty. so if can not do anything looks like be taking it back or phoning them up.

Had a couple this week with not dissimilar problems, though nore internittant, turned out to be PSU issues - could you beg, borrow, or shouldn't say steal, a PSU to test - very simple to change - 4 screws on the back and the rest just unplug inside - worth a try if you can.

No BIOS beep means a possible hardware failure. Check the RAM is seated correctly.

I thought you got 3 beeps if there was no RAM, or you certainly used to?

But its certainly worth cleaning - dedusting (especially if the home improvements created a lot of dust) - and reseating the RAM as you suggest.

Depends on the BIOS I think-but it does indicate a hardware issue (which could certainly include a bad PSU). I suggested checking the RAM, as it's one of the relatively easy things to test.

will double check everything again tomorrow.

The home improvements went on downstairs, yes it might have been dust but this was locked away in a cupboard and worked a few times since it was all over.
