I have been installing artificial grass for years now. The quality is very good and looks much more natural now than it did years ago when I first started installing it. If anyone is interested we have a YouTube video showing how it's installed:

There is also an installation guide on our website: www.artificialgrass-scotland.com

HUbby laid ours 4 years ago, hubby said it was like putting a carpet down and he found it easy.

it looks as good now as it did then. We used it because doggy weewee killed the real stuff. Would never go back to "real Grass"

So you prefer the kids to play on plastic that the dog has pi**ed on.

At least with grass you can see the problem.

Just found this okish infogrpahic about the benefits of having artificial grass: -

Although I agree with most of the points I am not sure about the environmental approach they are taking on this. Who would use a petrol lawnmower at home these days? I certainly wouldn't! Would it really be the equivalent of driving a car 360 miles? And it doesn't take the car into consideration.
Things are far easier than you think.

It takes a while to track down where this often-repeated "fact" comes from.
    http://www.aqmd.gov/hb/2003/03058a.html

"A typical 3.5 horsepower gasoline mower can emit the same amount of VOCs in an hour as a new car driven 340 miles. According to data provided by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the annual VOC emissions for 1,500 units of lawn mowers is 6 tons, including exhaust, evaporative, and spillage emissions. "

So, it's not the fuel economy, but the emissions, and only specific ones at that!

....a bit more googling and it appears that your average small lawnmower does 12-20mpg.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

More to the point, in what manner is it equivalent to driving a car 340 miles? Petrol used, noise made, air pollution, number of times someone says "are we nearly there yet?"... Who knows!

Anyway, plastic grass as an ecological sensible choice? Well, they've made no clear, quantifiable assessments here, just alluded to worst case scenarios with real grass in most the advertising. Meanwhile, plenty of people never water their lawn (I don't), and also don't use petrol mowers. I have a push along mower and most my neighbors have electric ones. Also, while they didn't mention this one, nor is everyone dumping lawn chemicals all over their lawn. The exact data is lacking, but I'm pretty sure I'd be being less green if I put down plastic grass.

As for maintenance, it's worth comparing the cost of hiring a garden maintenance company for a couple of hours a month against the cost of an artificial lawn. The same money could go a long way on some professional help and do more than just the lawn.

    You obviously dont have dogs
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

    Ah, good they got him:T:T:T

No, it now doesn't make sense, but a blatant spammer advertised his astro turf, 1st time poster on a mission.

MSE should mod the system to replace an offending post with a spam banner or similar, at least then folks know something has been removed.
