    Better location
    Cheaper commuting
    Better sector
    Much more interesting projects
Smaller organisation with reduced levels of corporate guff/politics/game playing etc
Will look great on my CV
Have worked with the Director previously and know he isnt a twonk, who accepts that disruptive technology changes the business model and works with that rather than try and fight it
and finally the new role would be better morally and will significantly help me moving up a league or two in the next 3 years.

You're definitely selling it to me. My worry is that it wouldn't look as good on my CV as the permanent role but perhaps I'm wrong. Oh, and you get bonus points for using the word 'twonk'!
  • To twonk or not to twonk! :rotfl::rotfl:I loved your post! But the main point was, you'd worked with this character before. You knew his ways, his traits, the fact that he was so Non Twonkified life would be fine working with/for him.

I can see the plus and minus sides of both jobs, and just wish OP the very best of luck. :)

Yes that's true. I don't think the evil manager I've mentioned will be working on the site with me and the other staff, I think he just conducts training and passes over to his colleagues. I think the main differences are the fact the former is temporary, the latter is permanent, more benefits with job 2, more suitable hours (back shift as opposed to 9am until...well, whenever we finish), more career opportunities with the latter. However, I'm noticing that I'm the kind of person who works hard for something and if/ when they get it, the appeal of it seems to diminish significantly, which may explain why I am idealising the job I have yet to get, and already want rid of the one I have!

The two banks if was refering to were Ly and Bar in most High streets- thats close enough not to break any Forum Rules.

I cant post a link, there are thousands of Threads for those two and all the other Banks etc. Follow my directions as previous post and under the Bold Heading there are Sub-Forums the one you want is Reclaiming PPI and other Insurance - this includes Morgages.

Note You will be working for any Bank that is admitting they mis-sold the PPI in the first place and they dont really want to have to pay back all that lovely lolly that was misgotten in the first place. I will try to copy/paste the Index Page Section Heading -dont know if it will let me.

The Reclaim PPI & Other Insurance Board

This is the best I can find that it will let me do - This is in smaller print with 3 or 4 other Boards under the Main Bold Header on the upper part of the Index Page - We are now in Employment, Training etc. look higher up the Index Page.

Can anyone else help goldilockz to find the Sub-Forum I am trying to show him. I am 72 self-taught and not Techie enough to do better.

Ah, no, I won't be working for either of those banks! I've taken a look at the reclaiming PPI thread and it's mammoth! I'll spend some more time browsing it later today. While I agree that the banks won't want to be paying out money for mis-sold PPIs, I think the vast majority of PPI claims will eventually go in the consumer's favour if the bank wants to be seen as abiding by FSA regulations, so the particular bank I'll be working for is keen on closing as many cases as possible so they don't go to the Ombudsman and are investigated further. I have to say that so far, I have been pretty impressed by the way they handle PPIs.
  • Hi goldilockz

I am so pleased you found your way to the PPI Board - and glad you would not be with the First one - you will see what I am refering to when you read more on there.

Put us out of our misery :DHave you been offered the 2nd Job yet and if you are offered will you take it. I hope you havent signed the 1st Contract yet :p

I think the 2nd Job would be the better solution - ask yourself why the first one offers more pay to less qualified people and if they are going to drive so hard who is to say you will get to the end of your Contract, and are easily dispensable - You are doing exactly what they wanted by going for the bigger money now, that way they can chuck you out without a second thought because there will be plenty more ' seduced by the higher money'

The employment scene is going to get worse, soon you will have loads of Civil Servants and Council Staff cuts on the scene. Then Banks wont even have to advertise because this type when Unemployed will go straight to Banks and enquire, most of them wont even bother to Sign-on, and they will have another Job within weeks.

But good luck with which ever Job you go for

    Hi Silv,

I haven't been offered job 2 yet, not even had the interview! However, if I am offered it, I'd be quite tempted. I've been doing some research on the company in preparation for my interview and I'm quite impressed. Don't worry, I haven't signed any contracts yet but I'm afraid that, by the time I hear back about job 2, I'll have signed with job 1 (I don't want to risk both jobs after all by not signing up to job 1).

I agree with what you said about job 1. Although the extra money is very tempting, it is ringing alarm bells. Perhaps I have nothing to worry about, but my last job was £7.25 an hour and this one is double this at £14.50 an hour, and I've done nothing momentous to warrant this increased amount of money. I agree with what you said about unemployment: it's not going to get any better anytime soon. I am attracted to the permanent job and, as it's working for the Government, I'm hoping there is at least some security in it, but who knows... Thank you for all your help x

The benefits have been sold to me just a few details to finalise and I will bang in my notice.

I am in the e-education sector, and currently there is a big demand for people with PPI experience am seeing contract roles of 300-550 per day and perm roles at between 55-120K

Do you happen to know why the rates of pay are so high?
  • I think some of these High Pay might be from some of these Scam Firms or on TV and like Job 1 you may never be there long enough to Collect even a 1/4 plus dodgy Contracts. You will find them Booood on that PPI Board. They have All got a bad Reputation because they take 30/50% of all they reclaim. and you dont need them - can do it yourself for cost of Recorded Delivery.

A neighbour that I am helping to Reclaim O/D PPI received a Text call on a Sunday at 7.30pm from one promising reclaiming £2840 but I know his Reclaim will only be £600 max - he deleted but some desperate people might have replied - but if reply then have to change their number to stop it.

Job 2 Does anyone on here think it might be good or bad for goldilockz to contact No.2 to ask if he had a chance of being shortlisted saying he really would like to work for them as permenant but had been offered another but Short Term and would prefer No.2 What do you all think ?

How soon have you got to sign No.1 Contract.
