Very possibly. As long as the holiday is honoured, I don't mind if it's unpaid. I don't particularly want to lose the money already spent on the holiday.0 -
PPI claims processing
This is not a long term job.
Actualy something I might be interetsed in doing.
YES your claim is valid

First of all, well done you on having been offered one job, and with the possibility of being offered another. :j When I was reading the posts on this thread, I visualised Boss Number One as a devilishly handsome Mr Nasty, the sort where your left leg could drop off, and he'd just yell "Leave it! :mad:There's work to be done! Just hop!"
However, should your legs be nicely intact at the other job, and the heel of your left shoe broke, kindly Boss Number Two, who possibly has breakfast stains on his tie, and his wife and children adore him, would say "Oh what a blow! :A Why don't you take your lunch now and see if you can get it repaired?",:A and then as you left he'd add "We're not over-busy today, it doesn't matter if you're longer than an hour!" :A
Job Number One, together with Boss Number One, sounds as if they will suck the life blood from you, and though the money's good, you'll either find yourself too exhausted to spend it, or you'll live to the limit of your great salary, and then when they've used you and abused you, and dropped you on the scrap heap, you'll either be so traumatised that you'll need 6 months to recover, or heavily in debt.
When I was a young girl
, I met a handsome, dynamic man who was obviously Going Places, and around the same time, I also met my DH. It fizzled out quickly with Mr Dynamite - because he was all show, and no substance, and all his conversations were peppered with "I, I, I".
DH and I have only got a few years to go until our Golden Wedding!
And when I saw Mr Dynamite a few years ago, he was bald, rotund - and the only place he was going was Tescos!!
Good luck, whatever you do.

Yes, I can't imagine it'll be too challenging which is why I don't understand why it's so well paid and am already looking for a catch before the job has begun!0 -
Congratulations on getting a good job!
For me is a no-brainer, would go for position 2. All the benefits, perks, and security count for a lot in a working environment. No1's pay sounds good, but it is short term, and it sounds like they'll be getting every bit of their moneys worth out of you.Oh well...

Haha! :rotfl:Your post made me chuckle Scarlett. Have you thought about going into creative writing? I visualised both my potential bosses quite well given your description, with boss number 1 as the devil and number 2 as the angel. The truth is, I have yet to meet anyone at job 2, and the two managers I met at job 1 were pleasant enough, besides the change of tone of one of them, who went from encouraging boss to slave-driving boss in 24 hours.
I agree that job number 1 might be pretty exhausting. They intentionally hired graduates who 'have no other responsibilities' and who are still enthusiastic and motivated following their degrees and prepared to put in the extra time. However, I don't really like the idea of staying late every night and not spending time with my partner, and I guess money isn't the most important thing when searching for a job, for me at least. I would like a job with good prospects and good pay. I guess I won't know until I actually do one of the jobs...0 -

Ah, those managers at Job Number One, might have seemed pleasant, but, beware the wolf in sheep's clothing! I used to be a Business Studies Teacher, and boy did I need some creative writing skills when it came to writing the end-of-year reports! :rotfl: "John shows leadership skills and immense determination when tackling the tasks that he enjoys". Usually means he's an arrogant bully at best, and an arrogant lazy bully most of the time!
"Lisa and I have had several indepth discussions regarding her level of application to the subject, and we are both looking forward to a marked improvement next term". Guess!
"Both Michael and I were pleasantly surprised when he presented me with one of the many items of coursework that he has been set". Those were the days!
Seriously though, I would get warning goosebumps if any job description included the words "suitable candidates .... blah blah blah .... and have no other responsibilities" as I'd read that as "doesn't wish for any sort of life outside these 4 walls".
And if Mr Nasty could change from encouraging boss to slave driver, in a heartbeat, who's to say what other traits he might display in, say - a week!:eek::eek: At least if your leg falls off in Job Number Two, you'll have sickness benefit.
Keep us up to date with your news, won't you.

Hi goldilockz
Having read you experience of the 2nd Manager at Job No.1 Have a look at the Threads about Reclaiming PPI on the Main Forum Index Page and I know you will find lots of Posts about Lordylordy (variation of spelling -probably not allowed to specify on here ) but if you say it quick you will guess which bank I mean.
I can see why people on those Threads are having so many problems if this is the way they employ and treat their Staff Contract or Permanent and do underhand tricks on Claimants so reason to believe you would also be tricked. If I am right about which Bank - Please dont go there - They have an atrocious reputation in PPI Land both Selling and Reclaiming Mis-sold
I am hoping Job No.2 is with Barley Sugar (similar variation ) as shortly I will be helping someone to Reclaim from Them
and there is hardly any flak around about Them. Obviously much happier Staff.

Hi Silv.surfer,
I'm afraid I don't know which banks Lordy Lordy and Barley Sugar are, after much deliberation but I'm guessing neither are the one I'll be working for. I'd be extremely interested to find out which banks you're referring to though. I'm dealing primarily with mortgages. I don't think the bank I'll be working for has a bad reputation where PPI is concerned. Certainly in the training, we were told that we'd be working to get people's money back as opposed to looking for flaws in their case, which I thought was quite positive. Do you have a link to the thread that mentions how staff are treated at certain banks? I'd really like an insight into that field of work before I start working there! x0 -

Better location
Cheaper commuting
Better sector
Much more interesting projects
Smaller organisation with reduced levels of corporate guff/politics/game playing etc
Will look great on my CV
Have worked with the Director previously and know he isnt a twonk, who accepts that disruptive technology changes the business model and works with that rather than try and fight it
and finally the new role would be better morally and will significantly help me moving up a league or two in the next 3 years.0
