Had my anniversay bill last May. No mention of an annual review on it, but it did say:
Your energy payments need to change
We’ve just completed your latest review and your Direct Debit payment has been different to your usage, so we’ve now calculated your new payment amount which we’ve summarised for you.

So it was onto the phone again to get it put back to what it needed to be to cover my usage. The (upward) adjustment did include £8 a month for my "gas debt", so maybe they were aiming to zero the balance earlier than it would have been thanks to my heating being off. Anyway, they didn't argue about putting the DD back to what it had always been, and I'm already in credit.

I had the annual review meter requests back in May (after 10 months!!) - a bill was raised,no change to DD proposed (hooray!!) but nowhere on that bill does it mention "annual review".

In April my "review bill" wasn't markedly different in appearance (if at all) from the previous bills generated by submitted reads. My "review" actually reduced the payment slightly but not enough. My 10% lower figure was agreed, there would have been a complaint if it hadn't been (or explained), and my lower figure is proving correct.

Based on my recent experience, and circumstantially a couple of recent posts, I suspect around May 2012 there has been a billing system upgrade which delivers a "lighter touch" on continuous recalculations (upwards:D).

Given what the online Direct Debit description says (an 'annual review' plus one (only) interim review), they would be on a complaint loser had recalculations every bill continued. And that is entirely separate from the actual calculation being questionable without a full explanation..

Now been on electricity supply for 12 months (not yet gas). The "previous 12 months consumption" is now exactly right, hardly difficult. There is a 12 month cost projection (to the penny) but it is approximately (but not exactly) 6% high. Why? Is the discount missing from the projected cost?

I found that their forecasted cost for me was also 6% higher than what it would actually cost for the predicted usage, and assumed the 6% DD discount was not included.

In all the disputes/debates I had with Edf I never factored that into my rejection of Edf calculations. Is this an undisclosed 6% earner for Edf?

My last two monthly reading submissions have not produced a payment recalculation. This theory is going to be difficult to prove. Unless anybody affected posts some data:D.

    Anybody?

It could be an admission of a price increase...;):D

I am around 11 months into the contract so don't have full year midata.

Isn't the likelihood that their spreadsheet is simply incorrectly specified and ignores DD discounts. It wouldn't come as a surprise that it is flawed data.

Of course the EDF rep they could explain it. :rotfl:but they only ever made one post announcing themselves and then disappeared.

To be honest would you want that job. :D

I have just switched to EDF. The only readings I have provided so afr are the one to make final payment to my old gas and electric suppliers.

I am confused by the comments. Is it better to submit meter readings or not.

Please forgive the stupid questions I have never changed supplier before and previously was on quarterly bill paid on receipt of the bill so I have no expereince of managing gas and electricity online and these comments are starting to frighten me.

Any advice would be very much appreciated

You must give them a reading and make sure you get an acknowledgement they have received it.
And don't let the bad comments frighten you as as i have never had a problem (well one small one with EDF)
this thread is about a particular problem that they seem to be sorting out eventually...:rotfl:
