does anyone know if its true that if your estimated income for the following year will be upto 5k lower than the previous years income for... can you asked the tax credits people to go off your lower income instead???
i only ask as my partner will be made redundant in 6 months and is currently on 23k he has been offered a job for 18k and obviously we will need the extra help to get by as i am a stay at home mum of two little ones under 3....
thanks in advance for any help on this matter

Yes you can. I always have my award based on current year.0

thanks that's put my mind at ease0

Tax Credits from April 2012 will disregard the 1st £2500 of any reduction in income. So if your partner earns £23k this year and will earn £18k next year, the Tax Credits will be based on an income of £205000

Really.....so would he rather be unemployed?0 -

Be carefull, if you adjust your award to 18K you will end up being over-paid because you will have spent a proportion of the year on 23K.Salt0

Because you said he was being made redundant, hence he will be unemployed, so if he turns down the job he will still be unemployed unless he gets a different one!!!0 -

Instead of adding !!!! and ?!?! why not just clarify your post?
You state :
i only ask as my partner will be made redundant in 6 months and is currently on 23k he has been offered a job for 18k
then state :
seriously =[...now Im unsure whether he can accept the offer =\
Its not unreasonable to assume you mean the 18K job offer. And therefore the comment of "would he rather be unemployed" is a fair question.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0
