Keeping PAYG phones connected without topping up?
Hello,
I have an Orange PAYG phone which came with £1 free credit. Unfortunately, the keylock came off and dialled numbers in my pocket so it now has zero credit and has had for 4-5 months!
I spoke to Orange who said I would be disconnected "any day now", although they seemed a bit vague about what term from the contract they could do this on. However, the only terms I can find say you can keep it with no credit as long as you "make or receive a call every 180 days".
Does anyone know how I might keep the phone without topping up?

Seems quite simple to me, get someone to phone the numebr once every 180 days. They only disconnect you if there is no activity on the phone or sim for 180 days0

If there is no activity or credit on the phone what do you need it for?0

"If there is no activity or credit on the phone what do you need it for?"
Benefit Fraud, terrorism, organised crime, etc.
Slightly nosey question. I am going to port my 3 mobile number onto it when my contract runs out and then port it back into a new 3 contract. Trouble is I need to make sure they don't disconnect me, as I still have several months left to go before the transfer...0 -
Ok, apologies. I think it's make or receive in 180 days, but I can't find the info in the leaflet with SIM at the moment. If it is only make a call in that time and you let it expire, you should be able to find yourself another free SIM in the next few months, and use that instead; I could probably send you one, but some need the initial top-up to activate0

No worries. I'm not that touchy!0 -

Thanks

You have answered your own questions! Just call your Orange mobile from another phone for a few seconds! If your Three phone has x-network minutes use that!0
