You a missing the point that there is absolutely no any logic behind CPW's suggestion. No, a cracked screen is indicative of a mechanical shock to the handset. This will have caused other problems inside. Very few warranties will offer any repair when there is sign of damage.
Your car analogy is incorrect. It would be like expecting a repair of the starter when the front was smashed in!- If the fault cannot be fixed there is no point in replacing the cracked screen before replacing the entire handset.
- If the fault can be fixed (under warranty or not) there is no point in insisting on replacing the screen for £160.

I would agree with that if they has said the fault was due to abuse ...however they said they would exchange it if she replaced the screen. No, a cracked screen is indicative of a mechanical shock to the handset. The analogy is correct .... a car with a smashed in front end would not be useable the same as the phone would not be useable if the screen was smashed ...however I said the windscreen was cracked which does not stop the car being useable the same as the phone is still useableYour car analogy is incorrect. It would be like expecting a repair of the starter when the front was smashed in!
It's not just about the money0 -
its still showing a cracked screen though-so they'll take that as oh thats what the problem is regardless of it still working
they blame the owner for the cracked screen so wont replace for freeWhat goes around-comes around0 -
What phone is it? In some cases, CPW will choose to replace a phone if they do not have authorisation to repair it. Apple and Blackberry products for example. Secondly, phones with cracked LCDa are notoriously difficult to repair without making the screen bleed further so if they did attempt to repair it, potentially they could render the phone unusable. Also, batteries are classified as a consumable so they only come with a six month warranty. If the handset is turning off whilst charging, this doesn't sound like a battery fault however, it could very well be hardware which comes back to my previous point.Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).
