Best Surround Sound (Home Cinema) System for £200ish +

Hi,

Sorry, I know people probably post these sorts of requests daily.

I need/want a surround sound system for PS3 and SKY +HD box! I wanted to avoid the AV Receiver route do to costs quickly mounting up!

The inputs need to be 1 optical (at least) and 1 HMDI (at least) into the back of the home cinema system ! I don't mind if its a DVD or Blu Ray player as I wont be using it for that function.

Preferably a future-proof one though, with an Ipod attachment (both not essential).

5.1 is a must!

And 2 or 4 tallboy's is highly preferred!

£200 ish...can probably stretch to £300 if the system is decent !

@ £200 you arent going to get 5 speakers, an active subwoofer, an amplifier and decoder with full size floor standers like you first linked to so no worries there!

I personally would strongly recommend saving up longer until you can invest in something more than a style package which is all looks and no performance. If you go down the separates route then you can build up over time. Start with AVR + 2 speakers then go to 2.1, 3.1, 5.1 etc.

Good luck with that. You're at least £200 short of buying anything you'd be able to stand to listen to and that you'd not find yourself running out of connections quickly.

I might just go for a basic dvd / blu ray system with 1 optical input and then use a splitter or manual get up and plug the correct electrical item into the back of it !

If your budget is tight take a look on the bay, plenty on there and good prices specially if you collect, I always search "collection only" it seems that's where the best bargains are and I normally only go 10 miles from home.:money:
