Aha..! I think I have fixed it...INSTEAD of going to 'start Application' and then choosing 'auto scan' , I chose 'save to PC' this brings up all the screens which I was familiar with and hey it works...the photos are printing out just as I want them to be...that must be what I chose before, but promptly forgot...
I feel rather a fool now....:o sorry everybody.....
Thing is, there are just so many options!! its easy to get confused of how you did it before and especially when I am on limited time to do it...rushing, distracted, etc...
I have written it down, what I chose, in 'step by step' and am hanging it up next to the computer....doh....:rotfl:
