scanner problem

I am using a scanner to scan ten photos into my computer and then print them, but I have hit a problem, the first couple or so maybe 4 have saved in the right size, normal photo size and saved to j-peg, but then the remaining they started saving to pdf file. It is set on j-peg though. and because its saved as pdf it wont print out as a photo ....it is also the size like a stamp on a letter...and the screens which came up before for me to follow now aren't doing, just a different thing with far less options comes up instead, , I have re-installed the software but to no avail....
NB. I have looked on google but can see nothing to help, I have seen canon's website but it seems you must pay for them to tell you why their product has developed a fault... also another website where you must pay, but the feedback suggests that probably only the really simple stuff has received an answer and I think you must set up a recurring payment/subscription.
Anybody know what could have happened please? I have to return the photos by the weekend and I'd ideally like to have done what I set out to do before this. Thanks.

Hi, it is a canon PIXMA MP280 all in one. It is very new. I bought it and didnt use it for a few months.0

Did you can from the scanner using the menu or via the PC directly?0
-
Hi I used it via the pc (screens which come up to prompt you,) as I think the only action available without, is just copying a document a4 and pressing the copy button for exact replica,
I have just tried it (just using the scanner ) with a photo and it comes out with the image very tiny and in the corner of the photo paper...the only controls on the copier are :- a4 plain paper, a4 photo paper and 10 x 15cm photo paper, or select none of those...I tried it with each and result is the same each time..
I have checked that I am positioning the photo to be copied correctly and this seems to be with the printer facing you, to the upper left of the platen where the arrow indicates...0 -
I don't know anything about that scanner but it sounds like it is trying to scan as a contact sheet (thumbnail size used for reference). Have you inadvertently changed a setting?0

On the scanner itself, make sure its defaulted to factory settings, and try again.0

I would have thought that is what the OP was using unless he/she is using Windows software :S0 -
Yes already have mp navigator, Installed canon utiliities: Easy Guide Viewer, Easy-PhotoPrintEx, Easy-WebPrintEx, MP Navigator EX4.0 and Solution Menu EX.
I have just gone into MY PICTURES. I have selected a picture (Photo) to print, and it came out as it should.
I selected photo, which was in MY PHOTOS, then highlighted a random one, then Photo Printing Wizard popped up and I just followed the prompts accordingly. So that part is working ok.
Its the scanning in and subsequent printing of that scan, which is the problem. Also if i just place the photo on the platen shut the lid and press 'copy' it is also the same problem.
Yes I think I will restore it (scanner) to factory settings later on when I have got a bit of time, see if that fixes it...thanks all for replies....:) PS yes I wonder if I have inadvertently changed a setting, but I don't think so as it was set to j-peg and not pdf. I have also taken off quite a few photos stored on the computer to save/ give more space for saving the newer lot which I have to do. But it doesnt seem to have had an effect.0 -

I have a similar machine and I control everything via MP Navigator. On the machine itself you can restore to factory settings.0
