Post Office Credit Card Online Payment?

Anyone know their application criteria? I've got the usual bank account and mobile for several years showing greens plus a credit card with £500 limit...
Do you think I'd get one?
Credit scoring depends on a range of factors
The clean credit score and having already a mobile and current account helps.
I assume you are employed?
How long have you lived at your current address?
How many addresses have you lived at in the last 3 years?
Do you rent from a landlord or live with family or own your own home?
How long have you had your current account for?
Are you on the electoral roll?
Do you have a landline home telephone number?
Have you made any other applications for credit recently?
these are the first few things that come to mind...Indecision is the key to flexibility

I'm not sure of their criteria, but I applied for a Halifax Clarity credit card first and was refused, so immediately tried for the Post Office card and was accepted with a £4200 credit limit, which I was surprised about.0 -
Yes, setting up a DD is the best way if you want to pay in full each month.
Well, that might be your opinion, but it isn't mine.
If there is a fraud on your account, it can be very useful NOT having a DD set up. That way, you can "contain" the problem to the CC. Have a DD set up and you could find your current account cleaned out by the DD. Note this situation is not covered by the so-called "direct debit guarantee".
They can be inflexible. If you are short one month, you might choose to only part-pay your balance. It could be too late to stop a DD - which could result in charges (and a report being made) for a bounce, or funds you need elsewhere being taken.
Agree they save the effort of making a manual payment and avoid the risk of forgetting - though of course if you forget to make a payment you might also forget to have the money ready in your account for when the DD is taken.0 -

Thanks, that's a useful point. As I don't really intend to use my credit card that often, I think that manual payment is probably a more viable option.0 -
I agree their website is appalling but they card is great when used overseas (no transaction fees charged by the majority of card issuers) and repaid in full (the promotional 'charge free' period is usually very short).0

They do reasonable repeat BT offers from time-to-time. Offered me 0% APR/9 months/3% fee. Obviously this can interfere a bit with your using it as a purchase card, as failing to clear the balance in full each month means you'll get interest on the purchase element.0

It is much better that they do not offer the internet facility at all...the online account summary is rarely accurate. For e.g. last month I made a purchase and it never appeared online. It was a foreign transaction so I was keen to know the exchange rate used..but no luck. I received the paper statement today and can now see the purchase - one more reason why paper statements are good for your finances:T0

I've had the PO Platinum card for about 8? years now. It's only ever used when I'm abroad. The website has been the same all this time. I wonder if it applies to all BOI customers or just those using them via the PO?
As well as transactions being hopelessly outdated if you use your card a lot you will only ever be able to see a maximum of 30 transactions listed in any statement period as the site isn't enabled for more......ludicrous really!
A note on payments - payments made over the counter at a PO branch with cash are credited the day they're paid so you can pay on the DUE date (sundays/bank hols excepted) safely knowing you won't fall foul of the 3-5 day payment rule.
Another bonus is their freefone number if you need to discuss anything ; 0800 169 2000.0
