She just said that RBS, NatWest and Lloyds all charge basic bank account holders for using cash machines which are not part of the same bank. Is this true?
    No, or not yet.

What was actually said in the programme was that they were thinking about doing that in the near future.

Lightweight programme - not a touch on Watchdog or the old That's Life for those of us old enough to remember it. Whole programme just looks like a forum to "air" three old ducks with not much to do.
Agreed, it looks very much like make-work for three burned out luvvies. Mind you, none of the so-called 'investigative' programmes are a patch on what they used to be.

Where's Roger Cook when you need him ... ?

Its good to see that the ex newsreaders still have a place on TV. Its not only B and Q that appreciate the the very senior members of society.

Those shows are usually a load of rubbish anyway - even Watchdog is now. I used to watch it every week - but then as soon as they changed it and put Anne Robinson on it (why??!!) it immediately went downhill. It used to be all about genuine grievances, now it seems pretty light weight and sensationalist. I.e. in the past it may be about a bank charging more than they said etc. - now it's just "the customer willingly broke the terms and conditions, then ignored the problem for a year and now they are in a lot of debt - those evil banks!".

The Biggest Rip off is these old Biddys (All Millionaires or at least very rich) taking our licence fee to spout absolute rubbish.

Or could the "Biggest Rip off" be "these old Biddys" are just reading an auto cue that some young, wet behind the ears, bit of a kid researcher/script writer has compiled for them to read?
Said researcher/writer will no doubt have a worthless modern, so called "degree" in something like media studies, photography, sports etc.!

I used to work on Watchdog so I know what happens behind the scenes, and you're not too wrong about the wet-behind-the-ears researchers and assistant producers who wrote the scripts, everything is run past a lawyer but I was amazed at how much stuff was wrong and had to be changed at the last minute or went out wrong. Angela would just be reading a script, she's just a presenter and has no involvement at all in any of the actual researching and getting the bad guys. Watchdog did go downhill, it did used to do really good stories but I became more and more fed up with stupid stories coming up that were just ridiculous, I remember one story went out about a holidaymaker who complained it was cloudy on their holiday, even though the brochure had guaranteed so many days of sunshine a year. And yet we had stories like 200 people paying out money for a vacuum cleaner that broke and they were being denied refunds, which is better consumer content as the well known brand name is actually breaking the law. And as for the rubbish 'dramatic' bits with people on motorbikes pretending to go after the bad guys...it just makes me want to smack my head against a wall.
