nearly 2000 views & 80 watchers but no bids, help?

Options
Im selling a car on ebay, its been on as a classified ad with best offer for 2 weeks now. Ive had 3 silly offers and no phonecalls.

The price is right, mileage low, great pictures, very clean & ad is very descriptive. Its also been in autotrader and they think its priced right aswell but no calls via them either. I'm certain its not overpriced because I'm not asking much more than the book price and there are many more of these with a similar spec/mileage advertised for much more money.

I understand that it might not sell but I'm confused as to why there are 2000 view and 80 watchers, rising by the day. Why would so many click to watch it. I could understand if it was an auction and they were waiting until the last minute to bid but its a classified ad with best offer facility.

Any thoughts?

  • Did you ask people not to watch unless they were intending to buy, perchance?

Oh ye right, didnt think of that. You must think you're really clever.

Obviously I realise people watch without intending to buy, I do the same, but surely 80+ watchers is an awful lot. Ive sold lots of things on ebay over the years and the most Ive had is in the 20's.

Sambucus was not being clever by asking the above question.

There are many listings on eBay where sellers state in the listing 'do not watch unless you intend to bid/buy'. Have you wrote this on your listing? as that is what can be attracting a lot of attention, people will watch for the fun of it so the number of watchers go into the hundreds. Click on the above link to see one of the many listings.

  • Possibly people with the same car and thinking of selling.

Interested in what you get for it.

Its above book price so you have ruled out all the people who have looked that up and dont want to haggle.

If its not sold then its overpriced.

It could be people watching to see if it sells. If not they may contact you after to make you an offer.
