cheap trains edinburgh

Hi! planning on travelling to edinburgh on the 28th april and retunring 29th april 9 of us on a hen do. Does anyone have any tips on how to make it cheaper using split tickets or anything? As cheapest I can find is 68 pound each.

As it is a hen do they probably don't care where they are coming from

If you split the booking
1 Derby_York.
2 York_NewCastle
3 NewCastle_Edingburgh
you can get it down to about £61.

Best bet is to go to RailUKforum, Fare,Tickets & Routing and ask there.

Give East Coast Trains a ring and ask about group bookings.

I know you said there were nine of you but maybe buying for ten people, their minimum for group bookings, will give a significant saving.
IMO worth a phone call.

Unless things have changed in the past two hours the cheap tickets for the 28th April onwards hadn't been released. The only tickets available for those dates are a £60.20 web special & the £120.40 full price, fully refundable, fully amendable, can be bought on the day tickets.

Wait until the weekend and tickets from under £15 each way should be available

Hi, thanks for your help rang virgin and their groupsaving for 10 people makes it 16 pound each way from new street and 6 pound from derby to new street making a total of 44 return!!! Does anyone know if there has to be 10 people actually on the journey r will we get fined if there is only 9?

Unlikely they will fine you because 9 are sitting in seats and one "is being sick in the toilet"

For Grouptravel, the whole group must travel together for the whole route. So if groupsave ticket covers 4 people, all 4 people must travel together.
