Drivers, but especially MOTORCYCLISTS, PLEASE, your HELP is required!
Calling on ALL road users, but ESPECIALLY MOTORCYLISTS,
please help in this campaign to get the DRIVING THEORY TEST UPDATED
to include MOTORCYCLING specific ROAD AWARENESS questions
please help in this campaign to get the DRIVING THEORY TEST UPDATED
to include MOTORCYCLING specific ROAD AWARENESS questions
Motorcyclists account for 1% of all road traffic in the UK, but shockingly account for 20% of fatalities.
What is even scarier is that prospective car drivers can currently pass their test without answering a single motorbike-related question.
Bennetts have launched a Government petition to ensure bike-related questions are made compulsory in all UK driving tests.
To have this matter raised in the House of Commons 100,000 signatures are required. We need your help.
Please sign the petition now:

IF you can support this epetition please also make a quick post to keep this thread active on this forum and hopefully towards the top of page 1.

Done, one rule for one and not the other.
I only drive cars nowadays.0 -
It would be nice if they gave examples on that petition. Questions about, say, A pillar checks at junctions would be useful. Questions about which lever you pull or stand on to operate the clutch, somewhat less useful.0

done, thanks for posting0

1% of users and 20% fatalities can be a matter of protection from collision. I am not suggesting that this will explain the entire difference but is a factor. Also, many motorcyclist do not take test in the first place, they happily ride on L plates.
Also, lots (I am not saying all) of motorcyclists are riding dangerously (i.e. to close to the car, overtaking in the same lane, etc)
I believe that all road users have to be aware and for that the suggested changes will be a fist step on a long road0 -

If you're talking about filtering, I'd like to point out that not only is it allowed, but it's also something a motorcyclist can be asked to do in their test.
Getting back to the original post, as the theory test questions are randomly selected from a database it's not surprising that questions on a particular topic aren't guaranteed to come up. Questions on stopping distances, for example, aren't guaranteed either.
If the petition was instead to make sure that more motorcycle and cyclist awareness questions were included in the questions that could potentially be asked, then I'd sign immediately.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY0 -

.
I did not say is illegal, I said that is dangerous and can cause fatalities for motorcyclists not for drivers.
the fact is clear, it is dangerous that is why in many countries is not allowed.0 -
Lets not stray from the OP. The petition is to change the test etc to make car drivers more aware of bikes not to discuss whether bikes ride safely.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Can we also have one for lorry awareness, especially in the motorbike test? I've lost count the number of vehicles that've driven round my wagon whilst I'm reversing, bikes that have shot up the inside of me whilst I've been making a left turn.0
