Natwest also advise me that they wrote to me in November advising of the recipet being produced but I never responded so they have taken their money.

That is one of these very frustating cases of one person's word against an another.

You might want to consider making a £10 Subject Access Request of Natwest requiring provision of all data held, specifically including correspondence. This may or may not substantiate the letter claim but at worst would let you see the *exact* wording or the letter.
  • But you must have supporting evidence, like the names and contact details of other hotel guests who were also not taken on the trip. Or the hotel staff who booked the excursion on your behalf and, once the trip failed, got (or tried to get) in touch with the organizers.

Or is it just your word against the merchant?

Thanks for all your help guys, had i known the process was still going on i'd of been right in top of the game but its just smacked me in the face. I've been advised i have to wait 48 hours ( so thats tomorrow) for the file to be passed back from arbitration. Im gonna get the ball rolling & contact FSA, I feel Natwest have let me down enough and gave me enough wrong info..I'm like everyone else and play fair and know of the processes that we have to go through. I shall let you all know how I get on.

Its my word against the merchant, no one else from the hotel was involved in the booking, I got the details of the merchant from the internet (Stupid im thinking now) The travel agent wasnt involved, It was a case if the merchant meeting us un the hotel lobby and paying, getting the itinery and the pick up details. I thought by paying on my card instead of cash would offer me some protection if it went wrong.

It's nothing to do with the FSA.

You make a formal complaint as advised, then follow up with referral to the FOS (after the requisite 8 week wait) if NatWest don't resolve it to your complete satisfaction.
