On 7th Feb I took £30 out of a Clydesdale bank Cash Machine outside a Clydesdale bank branch using my Lloyds Visa Debit card. I have used Clydesdale bank Cash Machines before with no problems, but later on that day I was checking my internet banking and the cash was not showing, which normal it does instantly but my available balance had reduced by £30.
Now today 2 days later it is showing with a £2 charge !. Now at no point was I warned of a £2 charge and as it was a link machine I assumed it was free !. The machine was outside a branch and not remote and was Clydesdale Bank branded.
I don't really know if I should complain or who to, Lloyds or Clydesdale but just wanted to warn everyone to be careful. This is what appeared on my statement:
07 Feb 12 CASH CHARGE CD 8423 06FEB12 DEB 2.00
07 Feb 12 14 EAST MAIN STREE CD 8423 06FEB12 DEB 30.00

The only £2 charge Lloyds impose is for using non-Link cash machines according to...

...so either it wasn't a Link machine or Lloyds have messed up.0 -

Lloyds. You have no contractual relationship with Clydesdale.0 -

Thanks for that, no it was Link, had the Link symbol and have use them before with no problems.0 -

This happens to me all the time with Santander. They think the banks in Northern Ireland are "foreign" even though they are on the link.0

Will would cost you only a 2nd class stamp. Ask for an explanation for the charge. If they fail to reply or give you misleading or incorrect information it is easy to turn that into £25 compo. So worth it.gettingthere28 wrote: »Thanks I could write to them, but do you think it is worth it ...0 -

14 East Main Street has postcode EH47 0RB
Stick that into the following page
http://www.link.co.uk/ATMLocator/Pages/ATMLocator.aspx
and it says that Clydesdale Bank at that address has a Link machine that does not charge.
That does not, however, prove that there isn't another machine that you could have used.0 -

Clydesdale don't have any non-LINK machines or those that charge directly.
I would guess its either another type of machine or the LINK connection was down so it reverted to Visa/Plus network.Good point.
