Brand new sofa - too tall and not comfy. Where do I stand?

Here's a good one to ask anyone here.
I tried out a sofa in the store many times. You tend to sit on them trying out the springs, the reclining action, the design etc.

I bought one. Delivered a few weeks ago. And after about 30 mins or so of sitting on it I noticed the base where your upper legs rest is just too high. You feel 'pressure' under your legs. I am 6'2", so it's not like I am shorter and my feet aren't touching the ground.

I have a Lazyboy Coolchair and the base is 18" off the ground.
This one is 19.5" off the ground. It's just too high.

I really do not think they will be able to have it adjusted as there appears to be no room for maneouvre.

So, where do I stand with it? Since this is not something I could have felt in the shop unless I sat there for 30 mins or more just to test (by why would you feel the need to?), but is something that makes the sofa uncomfortable. specially for one that is meant to be an all emcompassing brilliant sofa.

It's not "fit for purpose", that is my argument. Not spoken with the store yet, but interested in your views.

I was at least an hour in the shop when I bought my sofa and chair and sat on it all ways for quite some time and was left alone to do so.

I'd say its not fit for your purpose but I don't think you can claim its not fit for purpose?
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)

The bold bits are only in your opinion. Other people may find the sofa perfectly comfortable.

There is nothing wrong with the sofa per se, it just does not suit you.

Unless the store has some sort of satisfaction policy then all you can do is approach them in the hope of a goodwill exchange.

Struth. Of course its fit for purpose.

You could have say on it all day in the shop. For hours at a time in every conceivable position. You were at liberty to try every chair in the shop and you opted for one that you don't like.

Thats your fault, no one elses, so don't take the p£ss and try and blame somebody else.

Raise the ground level then, use a low foot stool or a cushion on the floor in front. Alternatively I understand Louboutin shoes offer some of the highest heels around and are very fashionable, get yourself into a pair of these..

It is fit for purpose, its just you've changed your mind. Same as buying a t-shirt then deciding it doesn't fit you quite right - the t-shirt is still perfectly fine. You're at the mercy of the store you bought from and what their returns or exchange policy is. Chances are they'll say no, or they'll charge you the cost to come and pick it up plus a restocking fee to account for the fact that they'd have to sell the sofa discounted as it is now a used item.

You could try and sell it on yourself second hand "nearly new".

Like ic says, you've got to go back, admit to the shop that you made a mistake, and throw yourself on their mercy.

If you go back saying it's not 'fit for purpose' they'll just tell you to clear off. Go back, take the blame and grovel and they may take pity on you.

You need to get a carpenter type to lop 1.5" off each leg.
